Player Notes
September 1, 2009
According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have recalled four player from Triple-A Norfolk. The team summoned outfielder Jeff Fiorentino and pitchers Dennis Sarfate, Matt Albers, and Alberto Castillo.

Our View:Sarfate has been on the DL since May while recovering froma circulatory condition, and he has finally finished his rehab. Albers has seen time in 42 games with the team this year, and Castillo has appeared in four. Fiorentino hasn't played in the majors since he made two appearances for the A's last season. None of these players are worth any fantasy consideration.

According to MASNsports.com, Dennis Sarfate's Triple-A rehab assignment will continue through at least August 13th. He will be reevaluated at that point.

Our View:Recovering from a circulatory condition, Sarfate has seven earned runs in just 5.2 innings during his rehab stint. He'll need to either get healthy or effective, or both if he's going to contribute at the big league level again this season.

The Orioles have extended Dennis Sarfate's minor league rehab stint by five more games. He is recovering from a circulatory condition that caused numbness in his right hand. Sarfate will stick in the minors through August 13, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Our View:Sarfate worked 79.2 innings for the Orioles in 2008. He has wicked stuff (86 strikeouts), but he doesn't always know where it's going (62 walks). He could be closer material if he could ever cut down on the walks. We're not holding our breath.

MLBlogs.com is reporting that Orioles' reliever Dennis Sarfate is expected to throw in a minor league game on Tuesday. Sarfate is still recovering from a circulatory condidtion that has sidelined him since early May.

Our View:Sarfate is expected to pitch tonight and then spend the rest of the month working back to full strength. He is throwing in the low 90's now, which is better than he was doing early in the season. Expect a return in late July or early August.
July 7, 2009
MLB.com is reporting that Orioles' reliever Dennis Sarfate threw a side session on Monday and he is expected to throw a simulated game in a couple of days. If all goes well, he could begin a rehab assignment shortly thereafter.

Our View:Sarfate has been on the DL since May 3 with a circulatory condition, but it looks like he is closing in on a return. His injury is one to be taken seriously, so the O's won't be rushing him back until they are sure he is ready. Sarfate will hold very little fantasy value upon his return.
