Player Notes
September 21, 2008
Martin Prado started at third base with Chipper Jones on the bench and he went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the club.

Our View:Prado has just 202 AB this season but that hasn't stopped him from filling in all over the infield while batting .327. In a reserve role the past three years, Prado has hit .310 and certainly deserves a look in the middle rounds next season in NL-only leagues if he can find a daily spot in the lineup.

Martin Prado had a nice day for the Braves Saturday, picking up three hits while driving in two runs and scoring two.

Our View:Prado has been hitting well of late. He started at first today and is likely eligible at multiple positions in your league.
August 8, 2008
Martin Prado, making a rare start on Friday night, had three hits and three RBI for the Braves.

Our View:Prado is batting .310 in limited action this season (84 AB), and has seven hits in his last 11 AB (.636).

Martin Prado was activated from the disabled list, and went 0-for-3 yesterday against the Phillies, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:In three at-bats, Prado's average dropped 20 points. He is not a viable option for fantasy teams right now, but he has good plate discipline and the offensive potential is there, so keep your eye on him.

MLB.com reports that Martin Prado will play six games at Triple-A beginning on Thursday, and then likely be called back up to the Braves. He has been on the disabled list since May 5 with a badly sprained left thumb. "That kid has really worked his tail off to get back," Cox said of Prado, who hit .282 in 18 games before being injured.

Our View:The Braves can't get him up fast enough. With Yunel Escobar, Omar Infante and Chipper Jones all on the mend, they are becoming desperate for another infielder.
June 23, 2008
Martin Prado could also begin a rehab assignment this weekend, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Prado has missed six weeks while recovering from a partially tore a left thumb ligament.

Our View:Prado could be ready around the All-Star break, but he'll probably stay at Triple-A.
May 5, 2008
Martin Prado has been placed on the 15-day DL due to his sprained left thumb, according to the AP.

Our View:The Braves noted that Prado is expected to be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks but will not require surgery. The team acquired veteran Greg Norton from the Mariners to add depth (and an extra bat as a pinch-hitter) to their infield. Prado held little fantasy value as a reserve, but played well when called into action as he went 11-for-39 (.282) with six RBI.
May 4, 2008
Martin Prado sprained his left thumb in Sunday's win over the Reds. X-rays were negative, the AP reports. Prado was starting in place of shortstop Yunel Escobar.

Our View:Prado doesn't help much in fantasy leagues, but he's been a very active utility infielder for the Braves thus far. Bobby Cox would miss him if he has to sit for any significant amount of time.
April 26, 2008
Martin Prado started in place of the injured Chipper Jones (back) at third base on Saturday, and held his own, as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 4-3 loss to the Mets.

Our View:Prado is establishing himself as a solid utility man for Atlanta, as he previously started in place of the injured Kelly Johnson. His fantasy value remains limited, however.
April 26, 2008
Martin Prado is starting at third base in place of the injured Chipper Jones today, according to MetsBlog. Jones aggravated his back ailment this morning, and Prado is batting seventh in the order.

Our View:Prado has been productive over 29 at-bats, as he collected four RBI, eight runs, and one stolen base. Prado is establishing himself as a solid utility man for Atlanta, as he previously started in place of the injured Kelly Johnson. His fantasy value remains limited, however.

Martin Prado, starting in place of an injured Kelly Johnson, went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI on Wednesday. Though Johnson appears to be close to returning from his injured knee, Braves manager Bobby Cox has a long memory and outings like this will certainly lead to Prado picking up at-bats even when Johnson is back in the lineup.
