Peter Moylan, on the sidelines after undergoing Tommy John surgery, has begun throwing and feels ready to attack his rehab process in preparation for next season, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I can see my shoulder getting stronger, feel it getting stronger. When I get back out there, it’s going to be incredible, because I’ll have a rebuilt elbow and a stronger shoulder, and I’m going to be fit because I’ve had nothing else to do.”

Our View:Moylan would be a welcomed addition to the Braves pen next year if he can even remotely recapture the form that led to a 1.80 ERA and 90 innings pitched out of the Braves pen in 2007.

Atlanta relief pitcher Peter Moylan will undergo elbow surgery likely to end his season, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:The sidearm pitcher was recenty forced to stop a bullpen session after only seven pitches and is going to undergo surgery to repair painful bone spur that is interfering with an elbow ligament. He is expected to miss about 12 months are a result of the surgery.
May 5, 2008
Peter Moylan has been transferred to the 60-day DL due to a bone spur in his right elbow, according to the AP.

Our View:Season ending surgery could be announced next for him. He recorded one save and five strikeouts over 5.2 innings, with one run and five hits allowed. He will be missed by the Braves, who are still without closer Rafael Soriano.

Peter Moylan had to stop a bullpen session after only seven pitches yesterday, according to FanNation.

Our View:He'll have his ailing elbow examined by team doctors on Sunday morning, but seemed ready to face the reality that season-ending surgery is potentially coming.

The Atlanta Braves have reported concerned about their growing worries in the bullpen, but they report several potential sources of help may be on the way, according to MLB.com. The team notes three relievers (along with veteran John Smoltz who will be working out the bullpen upon his return from minor arm pain) are on the horizon in terms of a return to the relief corps, including Peter Moylan , Mike Gonzalez, and Rafale Soriano.

Our View:Gonzalez is in the minors working on a rehab stint following off-season Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery and the team feels, barring setbacks, he could be in the majors before too long. Soriano completed a successful bullpen session on Friday, and while he reports there is still soreness, he feels the elbow is improving and should be fine in short order. Moylan, the team's top setup man, felt a "pop" in his elbow on April 11th during a save and, three days later, was told he would need season-ending surgery to alleviate the problem, a bone spur growing into his elbow ligament. However, Moylan reports he has not felt any discomfort while playing catch on three different occasions this week. Today, he will attempt to throw off the mound. The team remains cautious and warns he will have to undergo surgery at some point.

There still hasn't been anything officially announced concerning reliever Peter Moylan's elbow, and while season-ending surgery is still a possibility, it's not a given, this according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. After two weeks of resting his elbow, in which a bone spur is growing into a ligament, Moylan has felt good enough to begin throwing again.

Our View:After three days of playing catch, he's set to throw in the bullpen Saturday to give the elbow a test. After feeling "pretty good" throwing from 120 feet Friday, Moylan is not ruling out a return this season.

Nothing has officially been announced, but the growing feeling appears to be that Peter Moylan will indeed have to face season ending surgery on his elbow, this according to MLB.com.

Our View:Moylan is still hoping to avoid surgery, but it's growing less likely that he will be able to do so. Manny Accosta and Blaine Boyer appear to have solidified their roles in the pen to cover up for the loss of Moylan and Rafael Soriano, who does hope be be back on the hill relatively soon.

Peter Moylan will wait two weeks before making a decision regarding his right elbow. Signs point to him needing season-ending surgery. Moylan has a bone spur pressing against his ulnar collateral ligament. "We hope that the rehab in two weeks will improve his chances of returning this year, but understand that they may not be possible," general manager Frank Wren tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:Manny Acosta is expected to become the temporary closer and top setup man behind Rafael Soriano. Blaine Boyer and Will Ohman will also need to step up the ladder. The Braves are also waiting for Mike Gonzalez (elbow) to return.
April 16, 2008
Peter Moylan could be out quite a while due to his elbow injury, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He is going to visit Dr. James Andrews today, and he will determine if surgery is needed.

Our View:The Braves will use a closer by committee for now, with Manny Acosta, Blaine Boyer, and Will Ohman, as Rafael Soriano is also on the shelf with an elbow injury.
April 15, 2008
Peter Moylan has been placed on the 15-day DL, according to MLB.com. He was brought down due to his elbow ailment, and the team called up Buddy Carlyle from Triple-A to fill his spot on the roster.

Our View:The closer's role in Atlanta is unsettled now, but Manny Acosta should get the first crack at it.
April 10, 2008
Peter Moylan should assume the closer's role in Atlanta, until Rafael Soriano comes back from his stint on the 15-day DL. Manny Acosta should lend support as well. His fantasy stock is on the rise, but should only be short-term.
March 30, 2008
Peter Moylan was dealt his first loss of the new season as he gave up a game winning home run against Nationals' rising star Ryan Zimmerman in the ninth inning. The game ended 3-2. Moylan struck out two batters over 1.1 innings, but his one hit allowed was a back-breaker.
March 8, 2008
Peter Moylan is expected to test his sore elbow out with a bullpen session on Saturday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It's been an annoyance for about two weeks," he said. "Rather than keep throwing with it, we're trying to knock it out early." It could be just typical early spring rust he's shaking off, but we'll have a better idea of whether that's the case after his Saturday side session.
March 7, 2008
Peter Moylan was scratched from Thursday's exhibition game due to some soreness in his elbow, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "He's just a little tender," said manager Frank Wren. It sounds like Moylan might be able to pitch on Friday, in which case this obviously would just be a minor ailment.
