The Yankees recalled Chris Britton from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Friday to replace the injured Dan Giese on the roster.

Our View:Britton has been up and down with the Yanks this year. He'll fill a middle relief role.

The Yankees recalled Chris Britton from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Wednesday. He replaces Joba Chamberlain on the roster.

Our View:Britton will serve in middle relief.

The Yankees recalled Chris Britton from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Thursday. He will replace Kyle Farnsworth in the bullpen.

Our View:Britton has had a great year, allowing just one run in seven innings with the Yanks while holding a 1.80 ERA at Triple-A.

The Yankees placed Chris Britton on the DL Friday with a pulled ribcage muscle, according to MLB.com. Britton suffered the injury when he was warming up on Thursday. "We shut him down when he was warming up last night," manager Joe Girardi said. "He called and we had to shut him down." Dan Giese was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace Britton on the roster.

Our View:Ribcage injuries tend to linger, so Britton could be sidelined for a while.

Reliever Chris Britton is believed to be the likely candidate to be sent down to make room for Jorge Posada on the roster when he gets activated from the DL this week, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:Britton only allowed one run on three hits over seven innings while operating out of the Yankees' bullpen this season.
