August 27, 2008
Dan Uggla was 2-for-3 with a homer Wednesday night, as the Marlins went on the beat the Braves 4-1.

Our View:Uggla continues to be a great source of power from the second base position.
August 27, 2008
Dan Uggla drove in a a runner on Tuesday that was not himself for the first time since August 10, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He is hitting just .190 since the All-Star break.

Our View:For whatever reason, it seems as if Uggla's wretched performance at the All-Star Game had a carryover effect. He has just five RBI in August and just one home run. His slugging percentage on the month is only .286. Hopefully, for the sake of fantasy owners, he can break out of his slump and get back to hitting.
August 25, 2008
Dan Uggla was benched Sunday after going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts Saturday, but he is confident he will get back on track, according to the Miami Herald. He said, "It's just a matter of time before I get hot again."

Our View:He is only hitting .189 since the All-Star break. He feels he will get hot again, and hopefully it will happen down the stretch in September, when fantasy owners need him the most.
August 24, 2008
Florida second baseman Dan Uggla is not in the starting lineup today, believed to be the result punishment for his two botched double plays and 0-for-3 with the strikeouts on Saturday, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:Uggla hasn’t had a great road trip - 3 for 16 with a home run. He ran through a stop sign in San Francisco last week to cost Florida a run in a 4-3 loss. Alfredo Amezaga gets the start in his place.
August 21, 2008
Dan Uggla went 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks in the Marlins loss to San Fransisco on Thursday.

Our View:Uggla now has 27 home runs on the season. He should continue to be a great source of power from the second base position.
August 14, 2008
Dan Uggla went 1-for-3 in the Marlins loss to St. Louis, but was thrown out at second base when he did not hustle around the bases. He also struck out in his two other at-bats and committed his ninth error of the season.

Our View:Not a good night for Uggla, and August has not been a good month for him. The second sacker is now hitting .213 on the month, and his on-base percentage in the same time period is .302.
August 10, 2008
Dan Uggla blames his hitting slump on weakness in his ailing ankle, according to the Miami Herald. Uggla is hitting .162 since the All-Star Game, and said, "I've been struggling ever since I came back from the ankle injury. It's just not as strong as it was before."

Our View:Uggla has gone hitless in four of his last six games, and hasn't homered in nine-straight contests.
August 8, 2008
Dan Uggla had another night without a hit as he went 0-for-4 to drop his average to .261.

Our View:Uggla is 0-for-12 over the past three games and has only two hits in his last 21 AB (.095). He has still been a fine power option with 26 home runs and 67 RBI, but his production has fallen off immensely over the past month.
July 30, 2008
Dan Uggla blasted his 26th home run of the year on his way to two hits and two RBI for the Marlins.

Our View:This was Uggla's second home run in four games after a stretch of one long ball in 20 games. He is well on pace to establish a career-high in home runs after hitting 31 last season, though his average has slipped to below .270 due to a terrible month of July (.169).
July 29, 2008
Dan Uggla continues to struggle, as he went 0-for-4 against the Mets, and he is hitting .108 since the All-Star break.

Our View:Maybe that rough All-Star game is still on his mind, as Uggla has really seen his performance dip since that time. Don't give up on him in fantasyland, however, as a bounce back could be just around the corner.
July 27, 2008
Dan Uggla scored three runs and launched his 25th home run of the season on Sunday in the Marlins' 9-6 loss to the Cubs. Coming into Sunday's game, Uggla was hitting .067 since the midsummer classic.

Our View:Will he bounce back? You would think so, but that game will be hard to forget. His value is probably as low as its been all season. He has 107 strikeouts on the year.
July 24, 2008
Dan Uggla is not in the Marlins' starting lineup, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:He only has one hit in 22 at-bats since committing three errors and going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the All Star Game. He is expected to return to the lineup Friday.
July 23, 2008
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is now just 1-for-22 since his terrible All-Star appearance.

Our View:As if Uggla's struggles weren't enough, Hanley Ramirez is also 2-for-21 since the break. Both are too talented to keep up this level of ineptitude for long.
July 18, 2008
After playing arguably the worst All-Star Game in history, Dan Uggla continued his struggles Friday. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and is now 2-for-16 over his last five games.

Our View:Hopefully that performance at the All-Star Game doesn't get into his head. This is probably just a small glitch on the radar and Uggla will likely pull through it soon enough.
July 11, 2008
Dan Uggla commented on his first game back from a sprained ankle on Thursday, according to the Miami Herald. He went 0-for-3 against Los Angeles, but drew two walks and said, "I'm about 85 percent. There's still some pain. But it's to a point where I can actually run and tolerate it. Probably the biggest test is going to be able to run the bases."

Our View:He should be peniled back into your fantasy lineups, if you haven't already done so.
July 10, 2008
Dan Uggla will return from his sprained ankle on Thursday night and be reinserted into the starting lineup, according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Uggla has been out of action since June 28th though he wasn't placed on the DL because of the injury. Get him back in your lineup immediately if you have the option.
July 9, 2008
After going through pregame drills (sprinting, hitting, fielding) on Tuesday, star second baseman Dan Uggla commented that he hopes to be available as a pinch-hitter Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald. He is recovering from a sprained left ankle, but it feels strong and he can tolerate the pain now.

Our View:He also hopes to return to the Marlins' lineup at some point during their upcoming series with the Dodgers, which begins on July 10.
July 5, 2008
Dan Uggla took BP and fielded some grounders on Saturday though he is still having some difficulty running, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:The report went on to state that Uggla probably won't play in either game this weekend, but that the team is extremely hopeful that he will return to action next week.
July 4, 2008
Dan Uggla could return to the lineup soon, according to the Miami Herald. He has been taking batting practice, and it is possible he could pinch-hit this weekend, and may be back before the team's current road trip ends on July 13.

Our View:Uggla can't get back soon enough for those who have him on their fantasy roster. He has been providing everything you can ask for, with the exception of stolen bases, although he has even contributed four of those.
July 2, 2008
The Miami Herald reports that Dan Uggla expects to miss "two to four more days" while recovering from a sprained ankle.

Our View:Don't count on Uggla for much more than pinch-hitting this weekend. Each report has predicted a longer absence. Robert Andino is starting in Uggla's place.
July 1, 2008
Florida second baseman Dan Uggla is targeting Thursday as a potential point of return from injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Beginning Thursday the Marlins open a four-game series with the Rockies at Coors Field. Uggla hopes to be playing in at least one of those games as he feels his sprained left ankle is up to the challenge. Uggla was to have an MRI today to insure there are no further problems, but we have yet to receive official word on those results. Instead, the MLB is reporting that he wants to get back in action later this week.
June 30, 2008
Dan Uggla was out of the Monday lineup, a second straight game, after the second baseman sprained jos left ankle on Saturday.

Our View:Manager Fredi Gonzalez told the media on Monday that Uggla is still not expected to play until Florida begins a four-game series at Colorado on Thursday.
June 29, 2008
Second baseman Dan Uggla could be out until Thursday due to a sore left ankle, MLB.com reports. "We'll probable stay away from him for a couple of days; hopefully, he could play the road trip," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He's just got to ice the [heck] out of it today. He's got to get that whole swelling down and get some treatment on that." The Marlins open the coming week with three home games against the Nationals and then play four games in Colorado.

Our View:Even if Uggla only gets three games in Colorado this week, he id probably worth using over your backup option. He does carry some obvious risk, though.
June 29, 2008
Dan Uggla is out for Sunday's game due to his sprained left ankle, according to the AP.

Our View:He believes he will be back in action within a few days. Robert Andino replaces him in the lineup.
June 28, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Dan Uggla reportedly suffered a sprained left ankle when sliding into second base in the bottom of the fourth inning. Uggla, who tried to take the field in the top of the fifth decided he couldn't continue. According to the Rays broadcasting network the X-rays were negative and Uggla is considered day-to-day.

Our View:If the injury was of the high variety, it's unlikely that Uggla would have even attempted to return to the field.
June 28, 2008
Dan Uggla exited Saturday night's game against Arizona in the top of the fifth inning with an apparent injury to his left ankle.

Our View:We will update the injury to the Florida second baseman when more information is available.
June 21, 2008
Dan Uggla blasted two home runs, his 22nd and 23rd of the season, on his way to four hits for the Marlins.

Our View:If not for the power exploits of Chase Utley, Uggla would be all the rage at second base with the massive numbers he is currently putting up.
June 18, 2008
The Marlins managed just six total hits in tonight's 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners with no one posting multiple hits on their behalf. With that said, second baseman Dan Uggla attempted to keep his team in the mix, hitting 1-for-4 with his 20th homer of the season to total one RBI and one run scored on the night.

Our View:On the negative, Uggla struck out three times, giving Uggla a whopping 23 strikeouts on the month.
June 16, 2008
Dan Uggla has 19 home runs which puts him on pace to challenge the franchise record of 42 set by Gary Sheffield in 1996, according to MLB.com. "Anytime anybody hits 40, it's a feat, no matter where you're playing," Uggla said. "To do it at Dolphin Stadium, it says a lot. You play half your games in a non-hitter-friendly ballpark."

Our View:Uggla has been one of the best power hitters in the game as we approach the mid-point of the season as in addition to the home runs he has scored a ton of runs scored (52) while knocking a whole boatload in as well (48).
June 11, 2008
Dan Uggla hit a game-winning walk off home run for the Marlins off of Tom Gordon with one out in the ninth inning on Wednesday night.

Our View:Say hello to the new Jeff Kent. Uggla continues to mash the ball at an amazing rate since struggling early in the year. He will certainly make this years all-star team given his tremendous work at the plate.
June 8, 2008
Second baseman Dan Uggla was up to his usual tricks again today, helping the Marlins to a dominating 9-2 win. Uggla went 2-for-3, all singles, to post three RBIs and one runs scored.

Our View:Uggla hit .347 through May and was hitting .348 in June coming into today. Through seven games this month, he has failed to post a hit in two.
June 6, 2008
Dan Uggla was back with his teammates on Thursday night in Atlanta, after missing Wednesday's action to catch the birth of his second child. The second baseman went 3-for-5 with a run and a stolen base.

Our View:Seeing that Uggla has witnessed the phenomenon of child birth, it didn't traumatize him the second time around. He didn't miss a beat and continued his hot-hitting ways.
June 4, 2008
Dan Uggla left the Marlins early Wednesday to attend the birth of his second child, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:He is expected to return to action Thursday. Adjust your lineups accordingly. Alfredo Amezaga is covering second base today against Atlanta.
June 3, 2008
The Marlins suffered the 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves this evening, but second baseman Dan Uggla continued to show his team the way to better returns. Uggla went 2-for-3 with a walk at the plate, hitting two home runs ( and on the season) to total three RBIs and two runs scored on the evening.

Our View:Uggla hit .347 through the month of May and appears to be on his way towards another strong month, going 4-for-8 over his last two games.
May 25, 2008
Just when you thought he couldn't get any hotter, Florida second baseman Dan Uggla hits the walk-off home run to give his Marlins the 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants in the second game of their double-header. Uggla went 1-for-4 with one walk overall, hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the 9th to take the win.

Our View:That's 12 homers on the month for Uggla with 25 RBIs during the same span.
May 25, 2008
Florida second baseman Dan Uggla continues to swing a hot bat for the Marlins as they put the 8-6 win on the Giants in the first game of their double-header today. Uggla went 1-for-3 with a walk and his 16th home run of the season, tabbed for two RBIs.

Our View:Uggla now has 12 homers and 24 RBIs through the month of May.
May 22, 2008
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 without a run or RBI on Thursday night for the Marlins as he lost his 10-game hitting streak.

Our View:What makes this rather ordinary night so noteworthy is the fact that Uggla hadn't gone without either a hit, run or RBI since May 3rd, a span of 17 games. Don't feel sorry for him, he is still hitting .409-10-20 in 19 games in May.
May 20, 2008
The Marlins had to fight to squeak out the 3-2 win, finding the drive from the bat of emerging team leader, second baseman Dan Uggla . Uggla smacked his 14th homer of the season, taking a 6th-inning offering from Arizona RHP Micah Owings deep for what proved to be a game-winning dinger.

Our View:Uggla also added his second stolen base of the season, now touting 10 home runs for the month of May with a .429 batting average for the same span.
May 16, 2008
Dan Uggla went 3-for-3 with one RBI and blasted his 13th homer of the season in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Royals. He scored three runs in the losing effort as well.

Our View:Uggla has pushed his average up to .313, with 30 RBI and 33 runs scored over 40 games. Uggla is having a strong season, and is still getting better as a second baseman.
May 14, 2008
Florida may have suffered the 7-6 loss in extra innings to the Cincinnati Reds, but 2B Dan Uggla has continued to swing well, going 2-for-4 with his 13th double of the season and one walk.

Our View:Uggla failed to drive in any runs, but he now sits at 18-for-45 (.400) with eight homers in the month of May (we are just reaching the half-way point for the month).
May 13, 2008
With all the attention focused on Lance Berkman, few people have caught on to the fact that Dan Uggla is almost as hot, according to MLB.com. "He's carried us for about a week now," hitting coach Jim Presley said. "I know he got off to a slow start, but he's stayed aggressive."

Our View:It's been longer than a week Jim. Since being moved out of the second hole in the order, Uggla has responded by hitting .438-8-16 in 10 games batting sixth or seventh. Always a streaky hitter, Uggla has his numbers right back where they should be after a slow April.
May 11, 2008
One day after driving in five runs, Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo homers and three runs on Sunday against the Nationals. Uggla is up to 11 homers and 27 RBI on the year.

Our View:Uggla is on fire this May. He's swatted seven long balls in the month, and we're only up to the 11th day. Fantasy owners often knock Uggla because of his sometimes rough batting averages, but the dude has as much pop as any other second sacker outside Chase Utley.
May 10, 2008
The Florida Marlins were not short on offense this evening, led by 2B Dan Uggla . Uggla went 2-for-4 including a grand-slam home run in the 9th, bringing him to five total RBIs on the evening.

Our View:Since hitting the month of May, Uggla has been on fire, posting five home runs with 13 RBIs over nine games.
May 5, 2008
Dan Uggla, who is traditionally a slow starter, is hitting .267 with seven home runs, 19 RBI and 18 runs scored so far this season. The right-hander is 5-14 with three home runs and seven RBI in the first four games of May.

Our View:Expect the second baseman to produce in May and June, historically his best months.
May 4, 2008
Dan Uggla went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's 10-3 win over San Diego, and one of his hits went for his seventh home run of the season. He also scored three runs today.

Our View:Uggla now has 19 RBI amd 18 runs scored over 30 games played. He struck out 32 times, but is generating favorable fantasy numbers regardless.
May 2, 2008
Dan Uggla hit two home runs and the Marlins defeated the San Diego Padres 6-4 on Friday night.

Our View:Uggla's second homer was a three-run shot off Justin Germano that traveled over the left-field scoreboard.
May 1, 2008
Dan Uggla had a tough day at the plate in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers, as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Our View:He has now gone 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in back-to-back games against the Dodgers, and only has two hits over his last four outings.
April 23, 2008
Dan Uggla went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI to up his average to .259.

Our View:Uggla was brutal at the start of the year, but over his last five games he is 11-for-21 to raise his average up from .167. He likely won't hit for average, but the production in the counting categories should be substantial.
April 21, 2008
Dan Uggla finally had a big game as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored thanks to two doubles and his third home run of the season.

Our View:Uggla is a strikeout machine, but he is simply too good a player to keep struggling this badly. Look for the average and power to slowly increase as he finds a groove.
April 19, 2008
Dan Uggla is starting to work his way out of a terrible start to the season as he totaled two hits, a walk and an RBI in four AB.

Our View:Uggla still is hitting below the Mendoza line at .188, but after back-to-back seasons of at least 27 HR, 88 RBI and 105 runs, you know that the production will eventually show come with Uggla.
April 16, 2008
Dan Uggla has fared well against Tim Hudson, tonight's opposing hurler for Atlanta, according to MLB.com. Uggla is hitting 9-for-25 over his career against the Braves' righty, with two doubles.

Our View:This is good news for Uggla, as he is only hitting 10-for-52 so far, and is in need of a strong outing.
April 11, 2008
Dan Uggla is yet to register a hit against Roy Oswalt, tonight's opposing pitcher for Houston, according to MLB.com. He is 0-for-11 lifetime versus the Astros' ace, and could remains hitless, as he is only batting .189 so far this season.
April 9, 2008
Dan Uggla hit a two-run double in Wednesday's 10-4 beat down of the Washington Nationals. Ugla has struggled in the first week and a half of the season, and was hitting a light .143 entering Wednesday's game. As is typically with the Marlins second baseman, he has shown his power stroke this year, but in 28 at-bats had struck out nine times. In four at-bats Wednesday night, Uggla added two more strikeouts to his season total (11). The Florida second baseman is on pace to threaten 200 K's for the year. This of course is Ug-acceptable, or Ug-ly, whichever word you prefer.
March 21, 2008
Dan Uggla had a double, a home run and four RBI on Friday for the Marlins. Uggla is now hitting .320 with an OPS of over 1.000 in camp, and seems primed to repeat his power performance of last season that included 31 HR and 88 RBI.
