Chris Denorfia has been activated from the DL following his recovery from a back ailment, and the team optioned him to Triple-A, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Denorfia only held fantasy value in the deepest of leagues, as he batted .260 with six RBI and eight runs scored over 50 at-bats.

The A's placed Chris Denorfia on the 15-day DL on Sunday due to tightness in his lower back, the Ticker confirms. The move is retroactive to May 7.

Our View:Fantasy owners shouldn't miss him too much.

The A's acquired Chris Denorfia from the Reds on Friday in exchange for cash and two players to be named, according to the AP. This deal holds little significance for this season, considering that Denorfia is expected to miss the remainder of the year following Tommy John surgery. In 106 at-bats with Cincinnati last year, he batted .283 wth a homer and seven RBI.

Chris Denorfia underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow, according to the AP. Denorfia is expected to need six months to recover, so he's pretty much a lock to miss the entire season.
March 29, 2007
Chris Denorfia is likely out for the season after finding out that he'll need to undergo reconstructive surgery on his right elbow, according to the AP. Denorfia had been competing for a job as a backup outfielder.
