Player Notes
March 17, 2010
Wandy Rodriguez was in midseason form on Wednesday, striking out seven Nationals in just four innings of work.

Our View:He did allow two solo home runs, however, and his spring ERA is currently resting at 9.00. Still, it should be pretty safe to assume that he'll be ready for the season on opening day.
March 10, 2010
Wandy Rodriguez was hit hard by the Marlins on Wednesday, giving up four earned runs (six total) off six hits (two home runs) over three innings of work.

Our View:Wandy has been very ineffective in each of his first two starts this spring, though we're willing to look past it for now. It certainly wouldn't hurt, however, if he was able to bounce back and be productive his next time out on the mound.
March 5, 2010
Wandy Rodriguez had a rough first outing of the spring on Friday, allowing three runs and three walks in just two innings of work.

Our View:Don't expect many more days like today for Houston's new ace.

The Astros have won their arbitration hearing with starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez, according to MLB.com's Alyson Footer.

Our View:The 31-year-old lefty, coming off of his best major league season, will make $5 million instead of $7 million in 2010. After surpassing 200 innings for the first time in his career last season, he is a slight injury risk for 2010.

Wandy Rodriguez is headed for arbitration with the Astros after a team-imposed deadline has passed today, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Rodriguez asked for $7MM in salary, and Houston offered just $5MM. An arbitrator will take those two figures and decide his salary for the 2010 campaign. He held a 14-12 mark in 2009, with a 3.02 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.
