If Blaine Boyer was in line to pick up saves while Rafael Soriano recovers from a tender elbow, he didn't do himself any favors Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk in just a 1/3 of an inning. Boyer picked up the loss.

Our View:It's looking more and more likely that Mike Gonzalez just might be the closer at some point for the Braves. It would be wise to beat the rush and go to the waiver wire and pick him up now.

Blaine Boyer was cleared to continue pitching after an MRI showed no issues with the knee he tweaked on Sunday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Our View:He's no John Smoltz or Rafael Soriano, but Boyer has done a nice job this year as a setup man. His 31 appearances rank second in the majors, and he's mildly useful in NL-only formats.

The Braves pitching staff may be jinxed. Blaine Boyer left Sunday's game in the seventh inning due to an undisclosed injury, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Boyer landed awkwardly after a delivery.

Our View:We'll update Boyer's status when more is known. He doesn't have much fantasy value, but he's pitched well out of the bullpen this year.

Blaine Boyer was optioned to Triple-A Wednesday, making room for Chipper Jones off the disabled list. Boyer was mediocre in 5 1/3 innings with the Braves, allowing 10 hits and three runs (two earned).

The Braves recalled Blaine Boyer from Triple-A Richmond between games of their doubleheader on Tuesday. The club was concerned about the ability of starter John Smoltz to get through the game and wanted some depth in their bullpen. Boyer probably won't stay up with the team for long, though.
