CSNPhilly.com reports that the Phillies and catcher Carlos Ruiz avoided arbitration by agreeing to a three-year, $9 million deal.

Our View:Ruiz is 31 and hit .255 with nine homers and 43 RBIs in 107 games last year. He's a fine No. 2 catcher, but he's probably already reached his ceiling.

Carlos Ruiz may be ready to rejoin the Phillies' lineup Tuesday following his bout with a wrist injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Paul Bako has a hit in six straight games, but Ruiz would return as the starter tomorrow if ready. Ruiz is hitting .338 over his last 28 games.

Carlos Ruiz isn't likely to catch this weekend as he deals with an injured left wrist, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:He's received a pain-killing injection in the wrist, but will likely be rested much of the next ten days so he can be as fresh and healthy as possible for the playoffs. Paul Bako will continue to catch for the Phils in Ruiz's absence.

Updating a previous report, the MRI on the injured left wrist of Phillies' catcher Carlos Ruiz showed no structural damage, according to Todd Zolecki. Ruiz could get a shot in the wrist tomorrow, and he would miss 3-to-5 days is he does so.

Our View:This is actually pretty good news for the Phils, as this injury could have been much worse. He is only expected to miss a few games, and the should be fine for the postseason if he doesn't hurt the wrist further.
