The Royals placed Alex Gordon on the DL Saturday with a torn right quad. Alberto Callaspo replaces him on the roster.

Our View:The Royals haven't said how long Gordon will be out, but it seems likely he won't return this season.
August 22, 2008
Royals third baseman Alex Gordon is probably going to be put on the disabled list with a tear of his right quadricep, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:For all the hype surrounding Gordon, his game has never really materialized like many thought it would by now. His numbers are pedestrian - .254 average, 14 home runs, 51 RBI, and can be duplicated by numerous players around the league.
August 22, 2008
Alex Gordon felt a twinge in his quad while charging Jamey Carroll’s grounder in the third inning of action against the Indians Thursday, according to the KC Star. Gordon then aggravated the injury while fielding Franklin Gutierrez’s grounder for the final out in the fourth, prior to his early exit. Gordon said, "Hopefully, it’s not much. We’ll see today."

Our View:As of now, he is considered day-to-day. We will keep you posted on his status.
August 21, 2008
Alex Gordon left Thursday's game against the Indians due to upper quad tightness, according to the AP.

Our View:We will keep you posted when his status is updated.
August 19, 2008
Alex Gordon will not play on Tuesday night due to a sore back, MLB.com reports. "Yesterday it was bothering him a little bit and it didn't get any better overnight," manager Trey Hillman says. "We'll just give him a day to treat it and we're hopeful he's ready to go tomorrow." Esteban German will start at third base.

Our View:This comes at a bad time for Gordon, as he is hitting pretty well this August. He is day-to-day.
July 30, 2008
Alex Gordon went 0-for-0 on Wednesday thanks to five walks for the Royals against the A's. The five walks were a club record.

Our View:The A's issued only six walks all day, but five went to Gordon who is hitting only .253 on the season with an OBP just above the major league minimum at .345.
July 28, 2008
Alex Gordon hit his 12th home run of the season on Monday in a 4-2 win over Oakland. He was 3-for-4 with two RBI in the game.

Our View:Gordon has been a disappointment this season. He is hitting just .253 and had not homered since July 1st. He has just seven RBI this month.
July 1, 2008
Alex Gordon went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Orioles.

Our View:That was his third homer over his last seven games, while collecting nine RBI over the span. He is worth penciling into your fantasy lineups while he is hot.
June 27, 2008
Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with four RBI in Friday's 7-2 win over the Cardinals in Kansas City. He hit a double and a solo homer.

Our View:Gordon has now homered in two of his last three games, and has registered an RBI in four of his last five.
June 27, 2008
While several KC players are hitting their stride, sophomore third baseman Alex Gordon is slumping. Gordon is hitting just .217 in the last 28 games and has just three hits in his last 22 at-bats.

Our View:Jose Guillen (.350) David DeJesus (.364) and Mike Aviles (.333) are carrying the team offensively.
June 18, 2008
The Royals and Cardinals battled it out for the title of Show Me State this evening, but Kansas City emerged 3-2 with the help of third baseman Alex Gordon . Gordon went 2-for-4 with his 18th double and his eighth homer of the season to total one RBI and two runs scored on the night.

Our View:Gordon is struggling to get going at the plate this month, hitting just .224 through June. However, he has already matched the two homers he hit in May and is just four RBIs shy of his monthly total for that same span.
June 12, 2008
Alex Gordon had two hits, including his seventh home run of the season, and knocked in two runs while scoring twice for the Royals.

Our View:Gordon has hits in four of the last five games including two home runs in three nights. Still, he is barely on pace for 20 homers, and hit .267 batting average has to be considered disappointing. The talent is there, but it certainly is taking longer to show itself than many predicted.
June 10, 2008
Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Tuesday night. It was his first long ball since May 9.

Our View:We're still waiting for the superstar to emerge. This 24-year-old third baseman has the tools, but he is still trying to find his groove. Hopefully he can heat up over the second half like he did in 2006.
May 29, 2008
Alex Gordon waited until the ninth inning to get his first hit of the game, one that knocked in the Royals only run against Kevin Slowey and the Twins.

Our View:Gordon is hitting a solid .289, but with only 23 RBI through 53 games, the runs production just hasn't been there. Last year he heated up as the season progressed, hopefully he can do the same thing this year.
May 27, 2008
Alex Gordon has hit well against the Twins this season, as he is 9-for-23 (.391) with one home run and five RBI, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Gordon has six multi-hit games in May, and has a .271 batting average in the month as well. He hasn't hit a homer since May 9, but could fare well against Minnesota tonight, going by his season history against them.
May 9, 2008
Alex Gordon hit a two-run home run off O's starter Steve Trachsel in the first inning, but the Royals still lost their 11th straight game to Baltimore.

Our View:He also had a run-scoring single in the seventh for a season-best three RBI. The home run was Gordon's fifth of the season.
May 7, 2008
Alex Gordon hit his fourth home run of the season for the season on Wednesday night for the Royals to break a 20-game homerless drought.

Our View:Gordon has been a disappointment this season with a .280 average and 15 RBI in 33 games. Gordon is immensely talented, but he has been rolling over on too many balls in the early going. Once he fixes that fact, his numbers could take off.
April 14, 2008
Alex Gordon is riding an eight-game hitting streak, which is the best of his career, according to MLB.com. He will look to extend it tonight against hurler Jarrod Washburn and the Mariners.

Our View:Gordon is hitting 16-for-48 overall, and Washburn is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA. Keep him in your lineups.
April 13, 2008
Alex Gordon spent his Sunday hurting the Twins with both his power and his speed. The third baseman went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, double, walk, three runs, and a stolen base. Gordon owns a eight-game hitting streak and is batting .333 through 12 games.

Our View:Gordon looks fairly locked-in at the moment, and fantasy owners should enjoy the ride.
April 3, 2008
Alex Gordon went 2-for-5 with two RBI in a big 4-1 win against Detroit on Thursday, and notably collected his second homer of the season. He also registered four RBI in the three-game series, which the Royals swept.
April 2, 2008
Alex Gordon had a tough day at the plate against the Tigers on Wednesday, as he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. He left four men on base, but will be forgiven as the Royals won 4-0. His batting average is a mere .111 over two games so far.
March 31, 2008
Alex Gordon only went 1-for-5 against Detroit on Monday, but his hit was good for a two-run homer, which helped the Royals' in a tough 5-4 win on the road. Gordon should continue to make strides this season.
March 27, 2008
Alex Gordon went 2-for-2 with one RBI against Texas on Thursday, and raised his spring average to .308. The Royals' prized prospect is off to a solid start as he continues to make strides in the majors.
March 21, 2008
Manager Trey Hillman appears to be leaning towards putting Alex Gordon in the third spot in the batting order, according to the Kansas City Star. "It's a possibility," Hillman said. "Regardless of where Alex Gordon bats, he needs to be aggressive. On-base percentage is important, but I don't want Alex Gordon ever to be afraid to come out of his shoes (on a swing)." This is obviously good news for Gordon owners, as the stud-to-be previously appeared likely to hit sixth or seventh.
March 12, 2008
Alex Gordon went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the Royals' 6-3 win over the Angels in Cactus League play today. Gordon, coming off a disappointing rookie campaign, is hitting .346 thus far through spring training and could be on his way towards better days in '08.
February 27, 2008
Alex Gordon will bat fifth in today's intrasquad game, but manager Trey Hillman has often cited Gordon as a potential No. 7 hitter in the lineup, according to the Kansas City Star. Gordon had a disappointing rookie season last year, but many are expecting a breakout in 2008.
