Matt Albers has opted to try rehab instead of undergoing surgery on his torn labrum of his right shoulder, according to the AP. Albers said, "I’m still optimistic I’ll be able to pitch this year. I don’t really want to have surgery. I don’t think anyone really wants to."

Our View:His rehab will likely keep him out of action for two months, meaning he isn't worth holding onto as a fantasy prospect.

Matt Albers' MRI revealed a torn labrum in his ailing right shoulder and he could be done for 2008, according to the AP.

Our View:Albers can choose to rehabilitate the shoulder, which would likely keep him on the shelf for at least two months, or he can opt for surgery and be out of action for eight or nine months, hence ending his 2008 campaign. He will weigh his options over the next couple of days.

Matt Albers has been placed on the 15-day DL due to right shoulder inflammation, according to the AP. The club recalled Fernando Cabrera from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk to fill Albers' spot on the roster.

Our View:Albers was rocked for four earned runs on a third of an inning against the Cubs on Wednesday, while making a spot start in place of Brian Burres. He won't have a rotation spot when he returns, and isn't worth holding onto.

Matt Albers got the spot start in place of Brian Burress who was unable to go due to the flu. Unfortunately, Albers night was barely any longer as he permitted four runs while recording only one out before being removed from the game with shoulder soreness.

Our View:This was an extremely long night for the Orioles bullpen that actually did a fine job of keeping the team in the game (three ER in 7.2 IP). No word is yet available on the extent of the injury to Albers.

Matt Albers will get the start in place of Brian Burress, who is out with a stomach ailment, according to the Baltimore Sun. This will be Albers' third start of the the season.

Our View:Albers had fairly successful outings in his previous two starts this year. On April 14, he went five innings against Toronto, earning the win while holding them to one run. Then on April 30, he took the loss against Tampa Bay, allowing three runs on four hits in six innings of work.
