Dustin Pedroia has been so hot of late that he is now being considered as a candidate for the AL MVP honor, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Pedroia is hitting .480 over the past two weeks with five home runs, but his hot streak goes back much further. Over the past 69 games, a span that covers 283 AB, Pedroia is hitting .396 with 12 home runs. With the injury to Ian Kinsler, Pedroia is the top fantasy second baseman in the American League, if not all of baseball.
September 3, 2008
AL batting leader Dustin Pedroia was 3-for-4 with a home run in the seventh inning Wednesday. His long ball triggered Boston’s comeback from a four-run deficit, as the Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-4.

Our View:Pedroia is scorching hot as he now 8-for-13 in his last three games, including two home runs and eight RBI.
September 2, 2008
Dustin Pedroia helped fuel the Red Sox to a 14-2 win over the Orioles by going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and fiver RBI.

Our View:MVP chatter is developing around the diminutive second baseman, and it is surely something people will have to consider after his recent tear. He has seven RBI so far in two September games.
September 1, 2008
Dustin Pedroia had another two hits on Monday leading to two RBI as he pushed his batting average up to .327 for the Red Sox. He also stole his 17th base.

Our View:Pedroia now has a 6-game hitting streak during which time he has produced 15 hits. Since the start of June, a span of 76 games, Pedroia is batting a robust .362.
August 27, 2008
The Red Sox made a statement this evening, putting the 11-3 whooping on the New York Yankees, led by the efforts of second baseman Dustin Pedroia. Pedroia went 3-for-5 at the dish, hitting his 15th homer of the season to total four RBIs and three runs scored.

Our View:Pedroia enjoyed one of his best evenings this season and in the midst of his best month as well, hitting .319 through August with five homers, 20 RBIs, and an impressive 28 runs scored. Needless to say, if you have him on the roster, you are happy.
August 22, 2008
Dustin Pedroia knocked home three runners, collecting two hits in four at-bats and scoring a run on his 13th home run of the year in Red Sox 8-4 win over Toronto.

Our View:Pedroia has been nothing if not consistent in the summer months. In June he hit .356, in July it was .350, and in August his average is at .354.
August 12, 2008
Not to be overlooked in the dramatic 19-17 win over the Texas Rangers, Boston second bagger Dustin Pedroia was on the mark as well, going 5-for-6 with his 36th double of the season, registering two RBIs and five runs scored.

Our View:Not known as an offensive juggernaut, Pedroia hit .350 last month and is hoping to get back on this pace in August (hitting .300 coming into tonight).
August 9, 2008
Dustin Pedroia tied Luis Castillo yesterday for the longest road hitting streak, 27 games, by a second baseman since Luis Castillo in 2002, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:For whatever reason, Pedroia has much better numbers on the road than at home, hitting .335 away from Fenway, but still has a respectable .295 average in Boston.
August 8, 2008
Little Dustin Pedroia hit his 10th home run of the season on Friday night, a 3-run shot off of Octavio Dotel of the White Sox.

Our View:Pedroia has already bettered his total of eight home runs from last season, though this was his first big fly in 29 games. With the three RBI he now has 52 surpassing his RBI total of last season (50).
August 4, 2008
Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has a hit in 25 consecutive road games, reports the Boston Globe. That is the most by a Red Sox player since Tris Speaker in 1913.

Our View:Speaker is pretty nice company to keep. Pedroia does a little bit of everything for fantasy owners, and even has a surprising nine home runs, which is one more than he had all of last season.
July 23, 2008
Dustin Pedroia had two hits on Wednesday and is now batting .374 in 179 AB since the start of June to raise his average to .321.

Our View:Pedroia has erased his slow start to become one of the best second tier second basemen in the game. The average is legit, and if he continues to bat near the top of the Sox lineup he will continue to pile up the runs (he has 70).
July 23, 2008
Dustin Pedroia is close to a Red Sox record as he is riding a 23-game road hitting streak, according to the Boston Globe. He is just one off of Nomar Garciaparra's streak in 1998, which is the longest in Boston since 1956.

Our View:He will look to continue the streak tonight at Seattle. Overall, he currently has a seven-game hitting streak, with five multi-hit efforts over the span.
July 9, 2008
Dustin Pedroia hit a three-run double in a seven run, seventh innings, to beat the Minnesota Twins 18-5 on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Sox second baseman was 2-for-6 scoring three times while also driving in three.

Our View:It was the second straight multihit game for Pedroia and he continues to challenge Ian Kinsler (126 hits) of the Rangers for the most hits (120) in the league.
July 8, 2008
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.

Our View:Few have been hotter than Dustin and he looks more and more deserving of All-Star status every game.
July 7, 2008
Dustin Pedroia extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a double in the eighth inning of Monday's 1-0 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Our View:Pedroia is second in the American League in hits to Ian Kinsler. The second baseman has 116 hits in 90 games after Monday's double.
July 5, 2008
Dustin Pedroia had another two hits on Saturday to give him a hit in 13-straight games during which time his average has gone from .274 to .313.

Our View:During those 13 games Pedroia is hitting an amazing .492 as he is 30-for-61. In case you hadn't gathered from this information, we feel safe in saying that Pedroia is hot right now.
July 2, 2008
Dustin Pedroia is in the middle of a 9-game hitting streak. He's posted nine runs, two home runs, and two stolen bases over this stretch.

Our View:Pedroia keeps delivering out of the 2 hole for the Sox. Look for him to continue producing with ManRam and the superhot Drew hitting behind him.
June 29, 2008
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and a stolen base on Sunday. He is up to eight long balls and nine steals.

Our View:We wouldn't have guessed it going into the season, but Pedroia is making a strong run at the 15-15 club to along with his solid average and run numbers. He's delivering more than many fantasy owners paid for.
June 24, 2008
The Red Sox had to fight to keep the win yet emerged 5-4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks this evening. The effort was led by second baseman Dustin Pedroia , going 2-for-4 with his seventh homer of the season, posting two RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View:Pedroia is hitting a respectable .284 through June, sporting hits in 10 of his last 11 games.
June 22, 2008
Dustin Pedroia stole his eighth base of the season on Sunday, but the big news was the four hits he produced at the plate to raise his average to .282.

Our View:Pedroia continues to put the ball in play with only 28 K, and with a BABIP of .290, it seems reasonable to posit that Pedrioa should be able to bring up that average to the .300 mark over the coming months.
June 5, 2008
Dustin Pedroia is mired in a 7-for-49 slump (.143) over the last 12 games that has dropped his average to .273 from .304, according to the Providence Journal. "It's like all guys go through," said Francona. "He's trying too hard. It's the human nature part. It's a little bit of a lot of things."

Our View:Pedroia is a spunky player who has proven that he can be a legitimate .300 hitter at the major league level, so this is a great time to make an offer for him to his current owner.
June 2, 2008
Dustin Pedroia will get a breather on Monday, with Alex Cora starting at second base, the Boston Globe reports.

Our View:We won't be surprised if Pedroia makes a pinch-hit appearance, but fantasy owners with daily roster changes will want to pull him.
May 31, 2008
The Boston Red Sox report manager Terry Francona will miss Sunday's game at Baltimore, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Francona will be attending his daughter's high school graduation. There is no need for alarm.
May 18, 2008
Dustin Pedroia is now hitting .307 thanks to a 3-for-4 day on Sunday. Pedroia also scored three runs with two RBI against the Brewers.

Our View:Pedroia has been basically the same hitter he was last year, which marks him as a great middle infield play for those of you looking for runs and batting average.
May 7, 2008
Dustin Pedroia wil be given the night off on Wednesday with rookie Jed Lowrie getting the spot start, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View:Pedroia was the only member of the team to have played in all 35 games, and after an 0-for-5 night the team decided to get him some time off. Look for Pedroia to return next time out and try to get that .299 average back over .300.
April 25, 2008
Dustin Pedroia is quietly riding a 13-game hitting streak, according to MLB.com. He will try to keep it going tonight against righty Matt Garza and the Rays.

Our View:Pedroia is hitting .351 overall, with 13 RBI and three stolen bases over 24 games. He has been a productive performer in mixed leagues in the early going.
April 23, 2008
Dustin Pedroia was Boston's emergency catcher on Tuesday, according to the LA Times. Manager Terry Francona stated, "We'll have to find some equipment to fit him (Pedrioa is only five foot nine, 180 pounds)." Jason Varitek missed another game due to the flu, and Kevin Cash started the game at the position.

Our View:Pedroia is hitting .364 over 88 at-bats, with 12 RBI, and would provide very strong numbers for the fantasy position if he was to was to become eligible at catcher this season, that is if you are in a league that requires only one appearance to qualify at a position.
April 23, 2008
Dustin Pedroia is off to a solid start as he is hitting .364 over 88 at-bats with 12 RBI, and he gained praise from Manager Terry Francona, according to MLB.com. Francona commented, "He's such a dangerous hitter. He knows how to play the game. All he tries to do when he shows up every day is win. That's really what he cares about. I come back to that word 'reassuring.' I don't know that Petey deserves to be called a young player. I think he's young in age, but he knows how to play the game."

Our View:This is encouraging news for Pedroia, and he is currently on an 11-game hitting streak, while registering a .477 average over the span.
April 22, 2008
Dustin Pedroia went 4-for-5 with three doubles, one run, one RBI, and a steal in Tuesday's win over the Angels. He has hit 11 doubles on the season, including six in the last four games. Pedroia has also driven in 11 runs over the previous nine contests.

Our View:Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury are driving opposing pitchers crazy right now, and this second baseman is attempting to step out from under his "boring" fantasy label. It will take more than one hot stretch, but we like what we're seeing thus far from Pedroia.
April 20, 2008
Dustin Pedroia has played in all 19 games for the Red Sox so far, and will get a day off on Sunday, according to the Providence Journal. He is off to a favorable start as he is hitting 25-for-77, with two stolen bases and eight RBI.

March 12, 2008
Dustin Pedroia was sent home on Tuesday after a brief BP session in the cage, according to Projo.com. The Red Sox second baseman was suffering from flu like symptoms. He was walking around the clubhouse drinking Pedialyte according to the report. “We thought he was going to throw up on everybody,” joked Francona. “He’ll come out and work out [today], but he’s not going to play.” Pedoria is being drafted as a starting option in mixed formats, and should perform as such barring a case of the sophomore yips.
