The Milwaukee Brewers have claimed catcher George Kottaras off waivers from Boston, according to the Twitter page of baseball writer Mike Siano.

Our View:Kottaras isn't anything more than depth, and he won't warrant any fantasy consideration. Heis in a better situation in Milwaukee than he would have been in Boston, however.

George Kottaras has been activated from the 15-day DL following his bout with a strained back, according to TSN.

Our View:Kottaras does not merit fantasy consideration, as he won't see much action behind Jason Varitek and Victor Martinez.

According to the Providence Journal, George Kottaras (back strain) has completed his rehab assignment and will rejoin the Red Sox when rosters expand on Tuesday.

Our View:Kottaras is the the third-string catcher behind Jason Varitek and Victor Martinez, so he merely provides emergency depth and won't hold any fantasy value.

According to MLB.com, Red Sox's catcher George Kottaras began a rehab assignment on Saturday, going 0-for-1 with two walks and a strikeout in five innings with Triple-A Pawtucket. Kottaras has been on the DL since August 1 with a strained lower back.

Our View:With the addition of Victor Martinez, the Sox don't have a huge need for Kottaras at this point. Don't expect to see him much when he is healthy enough to go, as he will be behind both Martinez and Jason Varitek on the depth chart.

George Kottaras has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained lower back, according to TSN.

Our View:Kottaras is not a solid hitter, and was pushed down the depth chart at catcher after the Sox reeled in Victor Martinez. He won't be missed in fantasy leagues while on the shelf.
