March 19, 2010 Brandon McCarthy served up two homers on Friday that led to five runs in four innings of a 12-2 loss to the Indians. Our View:McCarthy allowed five hits and three walks over his four frames and was far from effective. He seems to be on the outside looking in as far as the Rangers rotation plans go, and may become trade bait if C.J. Wilson beats him out for the final spot. |

Our View:McCarthy pitched up to his potential today, but remains an unstable fantasy pick for 2010. He will be hard-pressed to stay healthy too, going by his past record. |

January 15, 2010 The Rangers and pitcher Brandon McCarthy avoided arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a $1.32 million contract for the 2010 season, according to the Our View:McCarthy went a mediocre 7-4 with a 4.62 ERA in 17 starts in 2009. If he can stay healthy in 2010, however, he'll be a solid option at starter in AL-only leagues. |

September 27, 2009 Brandon McCarthy had a stellar outing on Sunday, but was denied the win when the Rangers bullpen imploded against the Rays for seven runs in the final two innings of a 7-6 loss. Our View:For his part, McCarthy allowed two runs (zero earned) on six hits and a walk over 7.2 innings. He fanned three and kept the Rays in the park all game, but could have used a well deserved win. He hasn't won in his last three starts despite pitching pretty well. |
