Player Notes
June 19, 2008
Santiago Casilla has been activated from the 15-day DL, according to the AP. The team decided to designate Kiko Calero for assignment, as an adjoining move. Casilla has recovered from right elbow soreness.

Our View:Casilla only allowed two earned runs over 19.1 innings this season, with 22 strikeouts and a 0.83 WHIP. He should return to fantasy service, namely in leagues that use middle relievers.

Santiago Casilla made his final rehab appearance on Monday with Oakland's top affiliate and then joined the A's in Arizona on Tuesday, but he won't be activated until Thursday unless there is a pressing need in the bullpen, something that is unlikely after yet another stellar performance by Justin Duchscherer on Tuesday that saw him go eight strong innings against the Diamondbacks.

Our View:Casilla worked 1 2/3 innings at Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, making him unavailable for at least a day or two. Currently Casilla has no fantasy value in traditional formats.

Oakland RHP Santiago Casilla continues to work through rehab in the minors and could rejoin the A's as soon as this weekend, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Casilla has battled right elbow soreness and has been on the DL since May 16th. On Tuesday, Casilla threw the first inning of Stockton's game against Bakersfield, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts. Casilla will make a second rehab appearance with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday and, if all goes well there, the righty could be making a return to the club's 25-man roster soon after.
June 9, 2008
Santiago Casilla threw 29 pitches in a simulated game on Sunday, according to the SF Chronicle. He used his fastball, slider, and changeup, and felt no pain following the session. He is recovering from right elbow soreness.

Our View:Manager Bob Geren noted that Casilla will likely make rehab outings Tuesday at Single-A Stockton and Friday at Triple-A Sacramento, and could be activated from the DL after those appearances, barring a setback.
June 8, 2008
Santiago Casilla, who is working his way back from right elbow soreness, will throw a simulated game Sunday morning, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Casilla is likely a week or so away from returning, assuming he has no setbacks.
