Player Notes

Howie Kendrick won't start Game 5 of the ALCS against the Yankees, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View:Kendrick will ride the pine against opposing right-handed hurler A.J. Burnett. He is starting tonight's Game 4 against lefty CC Sabathia.

Howie Kendrick scored the game-winning run for the Angels on Monday in their 5-4 extra-innings win over the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALCS. Kendrick was 3-for-5 in the game with a homer, a triple, three runs scored, and an RBI.

Our View:Kendrick scored on a double by catcher Jeff Mathis in the bottom of the 11th to keep the Angels in the series tonight. He replaced Maicer Izturis at second base tonight, and he made his manager look very intelligent with his performance.

In an effort to spark their offense, the Angels have decided to shake up their lineup for Game 3 against the Yankees, according to MLB.com. Howie Kendrick will start at second base in place of Maicer Izturis against starter Andy Pettitte.

Our View:Izturis made the big error to allow the Yanks to win in Game 2, but this move seems to be motivated more by offense. Kendrick has had his ups and downs this season, but he provides much more of an offensive threat for the Halos than Izturis would.
September 26, 2009
Howie Kendrick went 1-for-3 with a double in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Athletics at Angel Stadium.

Our View:The Angels only had five hits in the loss, and Kendrick's knock was the only one for extra bases. Kendrick was 0-for-8 over his previous three games.

Howie Kendrick homered and tripled on Sunday, driving in five runs in the process, as Anaheim won 10-5 in Texas.

Our View:Kendrick is now batting .302 with ten home runs and 60 RBI on the season, finally fulfilling some of his seemingly limitless fantasy potential. Still only 26 years old, he will be a top-flight option at second base in 2010.
