Player Notes
June 30, 2008
George Sherrill blew his fifth save on Monday, his second in as many nights. Sherrill's mistake pitch resulting in a Miguel Olivo home run was part of an overall bad performance by the Baltimore bullpen, which blew a 5-1 lead after starter Brian Burres permitted one run in the first five innings.

Our View:Sherrill has been one of the good stories in the first half of the season and for the most part has been exceptional in his 39 appearances. However, there will be talk that the lefty has been overworked with his second straight blown save.
June 29, 2008
George Sherrill blew his fourth save on Sunday. The Orioles took the lead in the top of the 12th against the Nationals, but the closer served up a walk and a two-run homer after getting two outs in the bottom of the inning. Sherrill's ERA grew to 3.53.

Our View:Fantasy owners can hardly complain. Sherrill was a low-cost reliever heading into the season, and he already owns 26 saves. His job is safe.
June 20, 2008
George Sherrill picked up two walks on his way to a scoreless ninth inning during his 25th save of the season for the Orioles.

Our View:With a 4.86 BB/9 mark, Sherrill continues to play with fire on most nights. Lucky for him he is striking out almost a batter an inning while holding batters to less than a .180 average.
June 19, 2008
George Sherrill saved his 24th game of the season in Thursday's win over the Astros, and notched his seventh in June.

Our View:George Sherrill entered with the bases loaded in the ninth and gave up a sacrifice fly to Kazuo Matsui and a run-scoring infield hit to Miguel Tejada before retiring Lance Berkman on a short fly ball to end the game with the O's winning 7-5.
June 17, 2008
As promised, Baltimore LHP George Sherrill was available for closing duties tonight and did just that, earning his 23rd save of the season as the Orioles beat the Astros 6-5. Sherrill closed out the ninth, striking out one with two fly outs, all influenced over just 14 pitches.

Our View:Sherrill now touts six saves through June with a 3.68 ERA.
