January 19, 2010 Zach Duke's 2010 agreement with the Pirates will pay him $4.3 million, making him Pittsburgh's third highest paid player, according to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Our View:That's not as big of honor as it sounds like, considering the team's two highest paid players are Paul Maholm and Akinori Iwamura. In 32 starts last season, Duke went 11-16 with a 4.06 ERA. |

January 19, 2010 Zach Duke has agreed to a one-year deal with the Pirates, avoiding arbitration, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Financial terms of the deal aren't known at this point. Duke is due a raise after making $2.2 million last year. Our View:Duke was reportedly on the block over the winter and will likely a candidate to be traded during the season. He has one more year arbitration eligibility before becoming a free agent in 2011. |
