Ryan Garko has signed a one-year, $550,000 contract with Seattle, according to USA Today.

Our View:Garko's contract could nearly double in value depending on how many plate appearances he makes. Look for him to compete with Casey Kotchman for the starting gig at first base, though the two could very well end up platooning, with Garko starting against lefties.

Ryan Garko will not return to the Giants in 2010.

Our View:He was non-tendered by the club on Saturday. He was a huge disappointment in 2009 after coming over from Cleveland in a midseason trade, batting just .235 in 115 at-bats.
September 17, 2009
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Ryan Garko has become a forgotten man in San Francisco.

Our View:Garko hasn't started since September 6th and has just two at-bats in the Giants last nine games. Manager Bruce Bochy has shifted Pablo Sandoval from third to first base to get Juan Uribe's hot bat into the lineup and Garko is ultimately left riding the pine. He's hitting just .232 since coming to the Giants.

Ryan Garko pounded two home runs in the Giants' 14-11 loss to the Rockies on Saturday. Garko went 2-for-5 with the two bombs, two runs scored, and four RBI in the game.

Our View:Garko started off slowly for the Giants after he was traded, but over the last four days he has had two four-RBI games. The Giants need his bat to heat up, and it looks like it is doing so at the right time.

Ryan Garko plated four of his fellow Giants on Tuesday in a ten-inning, 8-5 win over the Reds.

Our View:Garko has been quiet since coming over from Cleveland. Tuesday's performance doubled his RBI total as a Giant and certainly improved his .208 average coming into the game.
