Josh Banks has been designated for assignment to make room for Mat Latos, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Banks has struggled mightily in 2009, posing a 7.15 ERA in 22.2 innings, and isn't worth owning in any format, no matter where he ends up.
July 10, 2009
Josh Banks was stomped for seven earned runs on eight hits over a mere four innings in Friday's 8-0 loss at San Francisco. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View:Banks has given up 13 earned runs over his last two starts, and is not fit for fantasy duty right now. He has a 7.48 ERA for the season.
July 5, 2009
Josh Banks was roughed up for six earned runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers at Petco Park. He had one walk and no strikeouts, and gave up three homers.

Our View:The game went 13 innings, so Banks ends the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He was a grave disappointment while coming off his first win of the season against Houston. He should only be an option in deeper fantasy leagues for his next outing.
June 16, 2009
Josh Banks has been recalled from Triple-A Portland according to The Sports Network.

Our View:This will be Banks' first big league action in 2009. He went 3-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 14 starts for the Padres last season. It is unclear what role he will be filling, but he had been pitching well at Portland, compiling a 2.47 ERA in 14 games.
August 27, 2008
Padres rookie Josh Banks was optioned to Triple-A Portand along with Bryan Corey according to CBSSportsline.com.

Our View:Banks was 3-6 with the Padres over 17 appearances.
