Josh Rupe has developed into the primary long reliever in the Texas bullpen, this according to the Star Telegram. Kaz Fukumori, Kameron Loe, Wes Littleton and Robinson Tejeda have all failed where Rupe has succeeded. The right-hander sports a 3.47 ERA while the bullpen as a whole is at the bottom of the league with a 5.06 ERA.

Our View:Rupe has no traditional fantasy value. In truth, his 4.44 K rate is sub par and his 3.28 BB rate is far too high. So if Rupe is the best the Rangers bullpen has to offer, the Texas starters have little hope for "wins" unless they can pitch deep into games with a substantial lead.

Even though Josh Rupe almost won a spot in the Rangers rotation during spring training, he won't be given the same opportunity in 2007, according to the official team website. "The biggest thing with Josh is [that] if you start piling pitches on his arm, it becomes a concern," pitching coach Mark Connor said. "He showed it in Spring Training when his elbow broke down in his fourth start. Luckily, he didn't have to have it surgically repaired. It's safe to say we like Josh in the bullpen more than the starting rotation."
