Kei Igawa has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton, according to the AP. The team optioned Ross Ohlendorf to Scranton as an adjoining move.

Our View:Igawa won't hold much fantasy value while fighting for playing time out of the Yankees' pen. He allowed six runs and 11 hits over three innings in his previous stint with the club this season.

Kei Igawa has been sent down to Triple-A, according to CBSsports.com. Ian Kennedy was recalled to make a start tonight, and saw Igawa as being expendable to free up a roster spot.

Our View:Igawa surrendered six runs and 11 hits over a mere three innings of work this season, with no strikeouts. He held no fantasy value prior to his demotion.

The New York Post reports that Kei Igawa is one and done for the New York Yankees. A reported Monday noted that Ian Kennedy - not Igawa - will start Friday in the opener of the “Subway Series” against the New York Mets. The team would not confirm the report.

Our View:With Phillip Hughes on the disabled list and Kennedy in the minor leagues, the Yakees gave their disppointing left hander (Igawa) another shot. Kennedy, sent to Triple-A Scranton after posting an 0-2 record with an 8.37 ERA in five starts with the parent club is expected to return and start Friday versus the Mets.

Due to Sunday's rainout, the Yankees may be able to skip Kei Igawa's next scheduled start. The problem is that Ian Kennedy was supposed to work a Triple-A on Sunday, but his outing was also washed away, Newsday explains. At the moment, Igawa is still listed as a starter for either Thursday or Friday.

Our View:Fantasy owners should be ignoring Igawa after his awful start on Friday. It sounds like the Yankees can't wait to get rid of him.

Kei Igawa is still in line to start on Wednesday against the Rays. "I don't have news that someone else is going to start," manager Joe Girardi tells the New York Post. "That's our plan." Igawa was rocked for 11 hits and six runs over three innings on Friday.

Our View:We imagine the Yankees front office is trying to figure out a scenario in which Igawa can be skipped or replaced. How much will it cost Mr. Steinbrenner to make it rain on Sunday?

Kei Igawa's season debut was much like his last start for the Yanks, a forgettable one. The left-hander lasted just three-plus innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits.

Our View:Igawa has not been the pitcher the Yanks thought he could be when they signed the Japanese import to a big contract in 2006. He is not expected to remain in the rotation after tonight's performance.

Kei Igawa will make his season debut when he takes the diamond against the Tigers at Comerica Park tonight, according to MLB.com. Manager Joe Girardi said, "I thought as spring went on, Igawa got better and better. He got better pitching down with his fastball. I thought he got better at attacking the zone. He has the ability to strike out people because he has some deception. He can elevate his fastball, which hitters will chase at times. But most of the time you have to pitch down in the zone." He will duel with veteran Kenny Rogers.

Our View:Igawa has never faced the Tigers, and went 2-3 with a 6.25 ERA over 67.2 innings in 2007. This isn't an ideal situation for him to make his season debut, but he is worth starting if you took a shot on him in AL-only leagues.
May 6, 2008
Kei Igawa will start on Friday, followed by Darrell Rasner on Saturday, the New York Daily News reports. The Yankees will be facing the Tigers in Detroit for both contests.

Our View:It's not exactly the ideal scenario for Igawa to make his return to the majors, but desperate times don't allow for perfect situations. Both Igawa and Rasner are worth exploring in AL-only leagues, as the Yankees will likely stick with anyone who is effective.

Kei Igawa is expected to be called up to start on Friday or Saturday against the Tigers, the New York Daily News reports. The southpaw made his seventh Triple-A start of the season on Sunday, and he sits at 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA. "He's been throwing OK," Joe Girardi says. "Obviously, for Kei, it's important to attack the strike zone. His last start, he struggled a little bit, but he's had some pretty good starts."

Our View:Igawa has a chance to stick around due to Ian Kennedy's struggles and demotion. At the least, Kei is worth a flyer in AL-only leagues.

Kei Igawa was brilliant on Thursday night, albeit in a Triple-A outing. Igawa worked six perfect innings against Lehigh Valley. He struck out seven and was removed after only 60 pitches. That's one way to make the Yankees notice you again, huh?

Kei Igawa was dealt his first spring loss against Pittsburgh on Thursday as he allowed four runs on five hits over 3.1 innings of work, with three walks and two strikeouts. At the start of spring training he was competing for a rotation spot, but now it appears he is more likely to serve a role as a long reliever.

Kei Igawa pitched two perfect innings against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, striking out two batters in the process. That's a big improvement after he gave up a grand slam to South Florida on Friday. He'll have to continue to pitch well this spring if he's going to lock down a spot in the Yankees rotation.

Kei Igawa, the left-handed Japanese import, is fighting for a starting role for the second straight spring, according to the team website. The Yankees' $46 million investment in the 28-year-old looked to be a bust early last year, and that opinion hasn't changed this spring. Igawa was just 2-3 with a 6.25 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) over three stints in New York, bouncing to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Class A Tampa in an effort to fix his mechanics. The team is doing everything they can to help Igawa, but all indications point to the southpaw being nothing more than an average Major League talent.
