Huston Street has had some soreness in his right elbow since his appearance Monday. Manager Bob Geren downplayed it though, saying Street would have been available in an "emergency only" situation Wednesday, according to the Mercury News. Street missed 63 games because of irritation in his right elbow, so, despite Geren's comments, you have to at least be a little worried about the right-hander.

Huston Street was activated Monday by the A's after missing 63 games because of irritation in his right ulnar nerve, according to the AP. Manager Bob Geren said Street would be eased back into the pitching mix, with Alan Embree continuing to close. "I plan to use Huston the first few games in kind of a sixth-, seventh-, eighth-inning type of role until he gets a few innings under his belt," Geren said "Ideally, I'd like to get him back into the closer role, but he's pitched one inning in seven or eight weeks."
July 22, 2007
Huston Street is still expected to be activated from the disabled list on Monday, according to the AP. "We're 95 percent sure," manager Bob Geren said. "I won't use him to close games the first outing or two. I want to make sure he's ready." Street has been out with irritation in his right ulnar nerve.

Huston Street is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. If all goes well, he could be activated from the disabled list on Monday, according to the Contra Costa Times. If all goes well, he could work a rehab game on Friday and come off the disabled list next Monday, according to the Contra Costa Times. Toronto doctor Anthony Galea has confirmed the original diagnosis that Huston Street has ulnar neuritis and no ligament damage in his elbow. Huston Street was examined in Toronto Wednesday by Dr. Anthony Galea, who has treated tennis players who have issues with the ulnar nerve, the same part of the elbow where Street's injury is. It's unclear what the results of the visit were, but Street could stay in Toronto and undergo physical therapy at Galea's facility for several days to a week, assistant GM David Forst told the Mercury News.
June 13, 2007
The A's have shut down Huston Street after the closer began experiencing pain after throwing Friday. Out with nerve irritation in his pitching elbow, Street plans to visit a doctor to get another opinion, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Even if there is no ligament damage, it's possible Street could still have surgery. "If Huston continues to have pain, other options might have to be considered," assistant general manager David Forst said when asked about the possibility of surgery. "But it's been just over a month (that Street has been out), we can wait awhile. Huston has more than this season to contribute." There had been thoughts that Street could be back by the All-Star break, but that seems unlikely now.

"And if you have a real good setup or combination of setup guys, it's probably best for the overall health of the closer and performance of the whole bullpen if you get those guys in late in tight situations."
