Player Notes
July 1, 2008
Minnesota RHP Scott Baker showed well in support of the 6-4 win over the Tigers, pitching six innings to allow three runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Baker came out of June with consecutive wins and keeps the tide rolling this evening. He has allowed just seven total earned runs over 18 innings of work during that span, touting three walks versus 15 strikeouts.
June 26, 2008
Scott Baker improved to 4-2 on Thursday allowing three runs in six innings against the Padres. Baker allowed six hits and two walks while striking out three.

Our View:Baker owns a 3.57 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP after 11 starts this year and is only being held back from being a big time story because of his low total of four victories. He has been great this season.
June 20, 2008
Scott Baker won for the first time in over two months on Friday night as he held the Diamondbacks to just one earned run over six innings. Baker walked one and struck out seven in the win.

Our View:Baker is only 3-2 despite a 3.47 ERA and strong 1.19 WHIP as he continues to baffle hitters on his way toward establishing himself as a legitimate fantasy starter.
June 16, 2008
Scott Baker was the first pitcher in Twins history to record four strikeouts in an inning on Sunday, according to MLB.com. "I didn't even think about it," Baker said of the feat. "I came in [the clubhouse] and heard somebody say something about it. Yeah, that's pretty crazy.

Our View:This was the first time an AL pitcher accomplished the feat since 2003 when Kurt Suzuki turned the trick for the Mariners.
June 15, 2008
Scott Baker gave up three earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Brewers, with two walks and nine strikeouts.

Our View:Baker fell to 2-2 over nine starts, with a 3.71 ERA. This was his highest strikeout total for the season, and allowed two or less earned runs over his previous three starts. He is having a solid season and should bounce back fine.
