Player Notes
November 10, 2008
Josh Willingham was dealt to the Nationals on Monday, according to FoxSports. Scott Olsen was also included in the trade. In return, the Marlins will receive second baseman Emilio Bonifacio and a package of minor leaguers, including Class A right-hander P.J. Dean and outfielder Jake Smolinski.

Our View:Willingham will likely be a starter for the Nats. He hit .254 with 82 strikeouts in 351 at-bats.
September 23, 2008
Josh Willingham hit his 13th home run of the season in the Marlins' 9-4 loss to Washington. He went 1-for-4 on the night.

Our View:Willingham has hit a home run two nights in a row, and is ending his season with a bang - the same way he started it.
September 22, 2008
Josh Willingham went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's loss to the Reds. His other hit was good for a double.

Our View:Willingham snapped a 12-game drought without a homer, and has registered two hits in back-to-back games. He looks to close out the final week of the regular season on a high note.
August 28, 2008
Josh Willingham was benched on Thursday night as Jeremy Hermida was reinserted into the starting lineup, according to the Palm Beach Post. As a result, Luis Gonzalez started his fifth straight game in the outfield.

Our View:Willingham is hitting just .241 with only a single home run in his last 33 games as his back injury has limited his performance at the plate substantially.
August 11, 2008
Josh Willingham was benched for Sunday's game because of a dismal 2-for-20 road trip, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:Luis Gonzalez started in left field and went 3-for-4 with a home run. Willingham has not found his power stroke this season, as he only has eight homers over 226 at-bats.
