Player Notes
August 3, 2008
The lack of relief pitching might be a worry in Florida following today's collapse against the Colorado Rockies, wasting a strong effort by LHP Scott Olsen . Olsen pitched six innings, allowing just one hit with no runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.

Our View:Olsen walks with no decision and a 3.87 ERA after his relief support surrendered one run in each of the final three innings to take the fall. It is not the first time the Marlins have seen a good pitching effort go to waste this season, reminding the fans in Florida that challenges lay in wait as we look towards the playoff stretch.
July 29, 2008
Scott Olsen threw well but suffered his sixth loss of the season after allowing two earned runs on six hits in 5.2 innings against New York.

Our View:Olsen struck out five, and saw his ERA jump over 4.00 for the first time since April 9. Still, he remains a decent fantasy option in NL-only leagues.
July 24, 2008
Scott Olsen was rocked for six earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field, with three walks and three strikeouts.

Our View:He had a two-game winning streak snapped, and allowed two homers tonight, pushing his season total to 21 over 21 starts.
July 9, 2008
Scott Olsen allowed one run on four hits, walked two and struck out three, and the Florida Marlins defeated the San Diego Padres 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Our View:Olsen earned his fifth victory against four losses in his eight inning quality start.
June 24, 2008
Scott Olsen gave up just two earned runs over seven innings but left without a victory for the ninth straight game dating back to May 6.

Our View:The young lefty has a 3.44 ERA but a mere 4-4 record for the second place Marlins.
