Player Notes
December 13, 2009
One day after being non-tendered by the Nationals, Scott Olsen has signed a one-year, $1 million contract to stay in Washington, according to ESPN.

Our View:With incentives, however, he could make almost $4 million if he starts 33 games in 2010. He went 2-4 with a 6.03 ERA last season before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in July.

Scott Olsen was non-tendered by the Nationals on Saturday.

Our View:A bit surprising considering Olsen is still just 25 and one year removed from a very solid season. They could just be preparing to bring him back at a cheaper price.
September 8, 2009
Scott Olsen (left shoulder surgery) has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Our View:The move was solely to clear space on the team's 40-man roster, and Olsen is expected to be healthy for the 2010 season.
July 23, 2009
Scott Olsen's surgery on his left shoulder has been deemed as successful, according to MASN Sports.

Our View:Olsen will need 6-8 weeks of recovery time before he can begin a throwing program. Olsen is hopeful of being ready to participate at the start of spring training.

The Washington Times is reporting that Nationals' starter Scott Olsen is set to undergo season ending surgery on his left shoulder. Olsen was diagnosed with a partial tear of the labrum.

Our View:Tough break for Olsen, although he hasn't exactly been dominating the league in 2009. He is still fairly young, and he should bounce back in 2010, but if anyone was utilizing Olsen you can feel free to get rid of him now.
