The Sun-Sentinel reports that Ricky Nolasco could be moved to the bullpen to fill the closer role if the Marlins are unable to sign or acquire someone else to handle the job.

Ricky Nolasco will return to action Sunday and should be able to throw about 100 pitches in his return from a sore knee, according to the Sun-Sentinel. "I'd love to say we'll get six innings out of him, but we've got to watch him closely," manager Joe Girardi said. "I'm definitely not going to push him too far."

Marlins manager Joe Girardi said he isn't sure that Ricky Nolasco will start as planned on Sunday, according to the Miami Herald. "Right now we're planning on starting him Sunday but that's subject to change," he said. "We might feel that we need something different at that time. When you're in this [playoff] situation, your needs change every day."

Ricky Nolasco came in to relieve Josh Johnson Tuesday after Johnson stiffened up after five innings, and it's possible Nolasco won't make his start Sunday as a result, according to the AP. "Subject to change," Florida manager Joe Girardi said.

Ricky Nolasco will throw off a mound today for the first time in more than a week, according to the Miami Herald. Nolasco, who has been bothered by a sore right hamstring, is being replaced in the rotation by Brian Moehler. It is not known when he will pitch again for the Marlins.

Dealing with pain in the back of his right knee, Ricky Nolasco said he had an MRI taken yesterday morning, according to the Sun-Sentinel. However, he didn't know the results immediately. "It's been feeling better; I am just taking it easy," said Nolasco. "We'll just have to wait and see." Brian Moehler will start again in place of Nolasco on Saturday.
