The Florida Marlins have traded right-handed reliever Kevin Gregg to the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Jose Ceda, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Gregg could have an opportunity to close, as the Cubs will not re-sign Kerry Wood, but it would make sense that Carlos Marmol would get the first opportunity if Wood is not back.

The Marlins have been in serious talks to trade Mike Jacobs and are expected to deal Scott Olsen and Kevin Gregg, as well, according to the Miami Herald. There is internal support, however, for keeping Dan Uggla.

Our View:Gregg may or may not find himself in a closer role if he's dealt. He blew nine saves in 38 chances this season.

Kevin Gregg is rumored to be among the Marlins trade chips for this offseason, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:The Florida closer was 7-8 this year with 29 saves and a 3.41 ERA. Gregg made $2.5 million this year and is arbitration elgible. The Marlins probably won't want to pay him, so they may trade him rather than allowing him to become a free agent. The Mets, Cardinals, and Angels could all be canidates for a closer, with Brian Fuentes and K-Rod becoming free agents as well.

It is possible that Marlins reliever Kevin Gregg will be playing his last season in Florida, according to the Miami Herald. "It's an organization that doesn't want to spend the money," Gregg said.

Our View:Gregg is not a free agent, but made $2.5 million this season, and could see a significant raise if headed to arbitration.

Kevin Gregg is still working to reclaim his closer's role with the Marlins, according to the Miami Herald. Gregg lost the role to Matt Lindstrom when tendinitis in his left knee sidelined him for nine games, and Gregg said, "I want my job back. I think I'm a closer. I'm fine. It's night and day from a few weeks ago. I think the way I've thrown the ball the last three times, I've shown that my knee's healthy."

Our View:Gregg nailed down 29 saves this season, but has also blown nine chances. He could still reclaim his role, but there are only two weeks left in the season.
