Player Notes
July 9, 2008
Kevin Gregg, who blew two saves on the fourth of July weekend, tossed seven pitches to record two-outs in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Padres for his 17th save.

Our View:When Gregg has stuggled this year it's been because of his command. His Achilles has been his 5.75 BB rate.
July 5, 2008
Kevin Gregg blew his second straight save on Friday, but the Marlins are sticking with him. "Do we have a quarterback controversy here? It's fine. One-run ballgames are tough, and I got no problems with Kevin Gregg," manager Fredi Gonzalez informs the Miami Herald.

Our View:Gregg has issued 16 walks over the past 15.2 innings, which is cause for concern. He has generally been solid this year, though, and Gonzalez will likely be very patient.
July 2, 2008
Kevin Gregg earned his 15th save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals. The veteran right-hander pitched a perfect ninth striking out one in the process.

Our View:Gregg has been solid when asked to pitch the ninth inning this year. He has six wins to go along with his 15 saves.
June 11, 2008
Kevin Gregg doesn't mind working for his saves often pitching more than one inning, though the team would like to curtail any issues of possible overuse, according to MLB.com. "You don't want to make that a common practice," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He was rested and he's pretty good when he's rested."

Our View:Gregg has maintained all along that he doesn't mind working more than one inning, and truth be told, he has only 31.2 innings in 30 appearances so it's not like he has been used an onerous amount.
June 2, 2008
Kevin Gregg blew his second straight save (third overall) on Monday. He got one out against the Braves before walking two batters, allowing a fielder's choice, and throwing a wild pitch. Gregg allowed a run without giving up a hit.

Our View:Gregg also got in trouble by walking two batters on May 28. There's not enough to cause concern or start talking about a change, but it's mildly troublesome.
