June 28, 2009
Chad Gaudin was outstanding on Sunday as the Padres shut out the Rangers 2-0. Gaudin went eight scoreless innings and allowed one hit while walking two and striking out nine. He is now 4-6 on the season.

Our View:Wow, where did this come from? Gaudin is very average for the most part, but he looked like a Cy Young pitcher tonight. He has now struck out 20 hitters in his last two starts, and if he keeps doing this he will shock the fantasy world. Don't be shocked if he comes back to Earth in the next few starts, but he may be a nice pickup for now.

Chad Gaudin struck out 11 in seven innings on Tuesday to pick up his third win of the season as the Padres beat the Mariners 9-7.

Our View:It was Gaudin's first good start since May and his first win since May 31. He is not a great spot starting option, and tonight should be regarded mostly as a fluke.

Chad Gaudin was lit up for eight earned runs on 10 hits over a mere three innings of work in Friday's 11-6 loss at the Angels. He had no walks with one strikeout. He gave up two homers in the nightmarish outing.

Our View:Gaudin falls to 2-5 for the season, and his ERA climbs to 6.16. He is yet to win over three starts in June, and allowed 13 earned runs over the span. He is not fit for fantasy duty right now.

After throwing 37 pitches in relief for the Padres during their 18-inning loss on Sunday, Chad Gaudin's Wednesday night start has been pushed to Friday against the Angels according to the North County Times. Kevin Correia will take his place on three days of rest.

Our View:Gaudin has been highly mediocre in 2009, going 2-4 with a 5.01 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. He is little more than a fantasy spot starter at this point, and a dicey one at that.

Chad Gaudin was lit up for five earned runs on six hits over five innings in Friday's 8-0 loss to Arizona at Petco Park. He had four walks with six strikeouts.

Our View:Gaudin falls to 2-4 for the season, with a poor 5.24 ERA. Gaudin had a few solid outings this season, but is too erratic to employ outside of deeper NL-only leagues.
