Shawn Hill had bone spurs removed from his elbow on Friday according to the Washington Post. It was thought that he might need a second Tommy John surgery so this is good news for Hill fans.

Our View:Hill will be ready for spring training in 2009 but won't likely be an effective fantasy player. This season he was 1-5 with a 5.83 ERA.

Nationals pitcher Shawn Hill will have arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow in a clean-up procedure, according to the Washington Times.

Our View:Obviously, he will not be back this season, but fantasy owners have ignored him anyway, as he sports a WHIP of 1.75 and ERA of nearly 6.00.

Shawn Hill will not pitch again this season as the team determined that his injured elbow just isn't responding as hoped to treatment, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Hill is on his way to see Dr. James Andrews on Friday to make sure surgery isn't needed. The 27 year old hurler finishes the year with only 12 starts to his credit leading to a 1-5 record with a 5.83 ERA.

Nationals general manager Jim Bowden said on Sunday that right-hander Shawn Hill is not expected to pitch in a Major League game until the second week of September, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Hill is not making the quick progress the team was expecting when he started his throwing program last month. Washington was hoping that Hill would make it back by September 1st. Hill has been bothered by a sore right forearm and hasn't pitched since June 24 against the Dodgers. There is nothing structurally wrong with the forearm - his fastball was clocked in the 90-mph range. However, muscle soreness has prevented him from throwing a sinker, and doctors recommended that Hill rest the forearm.

Shawn Hill is expected to begin a throwing program as part of his rehab from a right forearm strain, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He has a full throwing program laid out, and his goal is to return to the Nationals in early September. This is good news for him, but Hill is not worth stashing as a fantasy hurler, as he holds a 1-5 record with a 5.83 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over 12 starts this season.
