The Dodgers and pitcher Chad Billingsley have agreed to a contract for the 2010 season, avoiding arbitration, according to MLBlogs.com. The deal is reportedly worth $3.85 million.

Our View:The Dodgers' would-be ace struggled mightily after the All-Star break last season, going just 3-7 with a 5.20 ERA in 14 games (13 starts), but at only age 25, he should again be a solid mid-round draft pick this season.

MLB.com is reporting that the Dodgers have moved pitcher Chad Billingsley to the bullpen for the NLCS. The team will use the returning Kiroki Kuroda in the rotation in Billinglsey's place.

Our View:My how the former All-Star has fallen. Billingsley was the Dodgers' ace for the first half of the season, but he has fallen off the map in the second half. He will likely be the long man if necessary, but don't expect to see him starting any time soon.

Chad Billingsley will not start game three of the NLDS for Dodgers, according to the Los Angeles Times. Vicente Padilla will get the nod instead.

Our View:Apparently the Dodgers have even less faith in Billingsley than his fantasy owners did down the stretch. After posting a 3.38 ERA before the All-Star break, he went 3-7 with a 5.20 ERA after the Midsummer Classic. That included an 0-3 record and 5.16 ERA in September. He will start game four if the series makes it that far.

Chad Billingsley threw a simulated game Monday, according to MLB.com. He threw 82 pitches over five innings.

Our View:Billingsley led the Dodgers with 12 wins in the regular season - but is winless since August 18. His role for the playoffs is yet to be determined. Skipper Joe Torre has Randy Wolf and Clayton Kershaw slated for the first two games against St. Louis, with Billingsley, Vicente Padilla and Jon Garland under consideration for the other two possible starting spots in the best-of-five series.

Dodgers' pitcher Chad Billingsley told MLB.com that he expects to start in the postseason for the team. Billingsley looks like he could be in line to start Game 3 after Randy Wolf and Clayton Kershaw.

Our View:Billingsley has been slightly better as of late, and right now the Dodgers can't really afford not to give him a chance in the postseason. He is a major risk, but there is also major reward potential, as Billingsley can be as nasty as anyone in the NL when he is on. Expect him to take the ball in Game 3, but we will keep you updated on manager Joe Torre's decision.
