Ryan Wagner, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, pitched a simulated game Monday. Manager Manny Acta said the session was "rough" because of a blister that developed on Wagner's finger, according to the AP. Wagner will throw a few more sim games before the team decides when he's ready for a rehab assignment.

Our View:Wagner had virtually no fantasy value before he was hurt, and that's not going to change after major surgery.

Washington reliever Ryan Wagner , currently residing on the team's 60-day disabled list, has rejoined the team after a small stint in extended spring training, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View:Wagner underwent major shoulder surgery 12 months ago, but his recovery is going well and the team hopes to put him through a simulated game on Thursday. From there, a potential rehab assignment could follow.

Ryan Wagner, who had a tear in his shoulder last season, may not be ready by opening day, but he is proceeding well in his recovery according to MLB.com. "[Playing in] Spring Training games is not looking too likely -- not necessarily because I wouldn't be ready, but because there is no reason to rush it," Wagner said. Wagner has long been rumored as a future closer, but up until this point of his career he has never been able to harness his stuff to the point that any team has trusted him late in games. At this point his goal is just to get healthy and secure a spot in the Nats bullpen.
