Player Notes
July 1, 2008
Chicago LHP John Danks was a force on the mound in support of the extra-innings win over Cleveland tonight, but walked off with no decision. Danks pitched eight innings to allow just one run on four hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Our View:Danks may not have factored in the decision but he has lowered his season ERA to 2.50. This was his fifth no-decision over his last six starts.
June 26, 2008
John Danks won his first game since May 29th holding the Dodgers scoreless for six innings in his fifth victory of the season. Danks allowed four hits while walking a season high four batters in the win.

Our View:Danks lowered his ERA to a stellar 2.62 thanks to his 13th outing of allowing three or fewer runs in 16 appearances. He also owns a 1.48 road ERA, the best in baseball as he continues his breakout campaign for the Sox.
June 20, 2008
John Danks was removed after throwing just 85 pitches and holding the Cubs to one run over six innings in a game that the Sox bullpen blew late.

Our View:Danks lowered his ERA to 2.80 with this effort, and he will continue to have success if he limits his walks while producing strikeouts like he did today (zero BBB, five K).
June 14, 2008
Chicago LHP John Danks was hurling a gem tonight for the White Sox, but slips in relief pitching and a total lack of offensive support led to returns undesired, falling 2-0 to the Rockies. Danks went six innings of shutout baseball, allowing just five hits, one walk, and throwing six strikeouts.

Our View:Danks now carries an ERA of 2.90 but suffers his third consecutive no-decision, allowing just six combined earned runs over that span.
May 29, 2008
John Danks lowered his ERA to 2.86 by permitting just one earned run over six innings on Thursday as he evened his record at 4-4.

Our View:Danks has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight of his last nine appearances, and he continues to be one of the better starting pitcher option in the AL. Given his uneven performance last season we are dubious that he will be able to continue his current run, but he has been on the money so far this year.
