The Rockies and Clint Barmes avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal on Thursday, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Terms of the deal have yet to surface. Barmes is a nice all-around second baseman, though he'll have his work cut out for him in spring training to hold off the younger and more athletic Eric Young Jr. Whomever of the two wins the starting job will be worth drafting in fantasy leagues.

Clint Barmes went 3-for-4 with an inside the park home run and three RBI in the Rockies 11-10 win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Our View:Barmes has surprised many with his numbers this season. The homer was his 23rd (his previous career high being 11) and he's driven in 76. The .245 average is low, but it's offset by his power numbers.

Clint Barmes led the way offensively for the Rockies on Wednesday as Colorado beat the Nationals 5-4. Barmes went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and an RBI.

Our View:Barmes is only hitting .251 on the season, and he has cooled off sgnificantly in August after getting hot earlier this season. He has 20 homers this season, and the power numbers are keeping him legitimate in fantasy circles.
August 8, 2009
The Denver Post reports that Clint Barmes is not in the Rockies lineup for Saturday's contest.

Our View:Omar Quintanilla will take Barmes' spot for the second straight game, while the second baseman works on his mechanics in the batting cage. This may become a regular trend against right-handed starters.
July 30, 2009
Clint Barmes led the Rockies in tonight's 4-2 win at New York, as he went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Jon Niese.

Our View:Barmes homered in two of his last three games, and has six homers in July. He is only batting .202 this month, but looks to remain a nice source for power.
