Player Notes
August 17, 2008
Franklin Gutierrez led the Indians to a 4-3 win over the Angels on Sunday, as he went 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Our View:That marks his fourth multi-hit game of August, and the third time this season he registered more than one RBI in a game.

Cleveland outfielder Franklin Gutierrez wasted no time in putting his Indians on top of the Chicago White Sox, eventually moving on the take the 8-2 win. Gutierrez got it all started with a grand slam in the first inning, his only hit of the night, a hit that proved too much for the Sox to overcome.

Our View:This is Gutierrez's third homer of the season and represents his first RBIs for the month of May.

Franklin Gutierrez was out of the lineup for the fifth straight game on Wednesday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. When asked what happened to Gutierrez, Manager Eric Wedge replied, "Ben Francisco happened to him. Benny has come up and swung the bat well and taken some time away from him." Wedge added, "Franklin can get a little quick with his upper half. I'm still going to have him in there against lefties and occasionally against right-handers."

Our View:Gutierrez looks to be David Dellucci's platoon partner in left field. Gutierrez will be in the lineup tonight against Chicago lefty Mark Buehrle.
April 22, 2008
Franklin Gutierrez has been pretty quiet since opening day, but he went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs, and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Our View:The Indians and some fantasy owners were high on Gutierrez heading into the season, as he has a lot of talent. The 25-year-old outfielder hasn't been able to deliver consistently, but more nights like this will get him back on our good side and keep him in the majors.

Franklin Gutierrez is struggling, as he is only hitting 3-for-18, with five strikeouts. If he doesn't break out of his slump soon, he could potentially be replaced in right field.
March 31, 2008
Franklin Gutierrez hit a three-run homer in Cleveland's seven-run second helping the Indians win their home opener against the White Sox on Monday. Gutierrez had three hits, added three runs and walked in the win.
March 24, 2008
Franklin Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI on Monday as he continues to battle for playing time in the Indians outfield. Hitting over .380 in spring, Gutierrez appears intent on convincing the Tribe brass that he deserves to have a full-time role the club this season despite entering the year with just a .267 average and 14 HR in 408 career AB.
March 14, 2008
Franklin Gutierrez hasn't played the past couple of days due to tightness in his legs, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Hopefully, he will be able to resume his quest for a starting spot in the Indians outfield on Friday against the Nats.
March 6, 2008
Franklin Gutierrez had three hits on Thursday as he tries to lock down a starting spot in the Indians OF. The team also has Jason Michaels, David Dellucci and Ben Francisco (who had four hits on Thursday) in the mix in a crowded outfield situation, so a lot will be determined before the team leaves camp for the regular season.
