Player Notes
March 10, 2010
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk batting from the leadoff spot for the Yankees on Wednesday.

Our View:Granderson was just 1-for-12 this spring entering today, so it was nice to see him put up a good line. While he's always been a bit of a streaky player, there's no denying his talent as one of the better five-tool players in the majors.

Curtis Granderson went 0-for-2 against Pittsburgh on Monday, though he did draw a walk and score a run.

Our View:Granderson, batting from the No. 2 spot, is now 0-for-9 this spring. We wouldn't over-analyze things too much this early on in spring, though it will be interesting to monitor how he looks as the season approaches.
March 3, 2010
Batting in the two-hole, Curtis Granderson went 0-for-2 in his Yankees "debut" on Wednesday.

Our View:Derek Jeter batted leadoff for the pinstripes. Expect that order to be reversed often this season.
February 25, 2010
Curtis Granderson will wear contact lenses for the first time in his career as he enters the 2010 season, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Could his mediocre 20/30 vision have been an explanation for his ineffectiveness against lefties? Sure, it could, but we wouldn't count on it, nor would we boost Granderson's value based on a story like this. Still, it can't hurt.

Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman is reporting that the three-way deal involving the Yankees, Tigers and Diamondbacks that will send Curtis Granderson to New York has been agreed upon by all three teams and that it will become official assuming everyone passes their physical.

Our View:As was reported earlier, the Tigers are expected to land talented young starter Max Scherzer and pitching prospect Daniel Schlereth from Arizona, as well as outfield prospect Austin Jackson and reliever Phil Coke from New York. Arizona will be receiving potential starter Ian Kennedy from New York and starter Edwin Jackson from Detroit. While the Yankees did have to part ways with a few attractive young players, you still have to believe everyone involved with the team will be ecstatic at landing a potential 30-30 player of Granderson's caliber at center field.
