Player Notes
March 17, 2010
Rickie Weeks homered off Cincinnati phenom Aroldis Chapman to lead off the game on Wednesday afternoon. He finished the day 1-for-1 with two walks.

Our View:His homer was the only hit Chapman surrendered. Weeks is hitting .364 so far this spring, and looking good in his recovery from wrist surgery. He's worth a flier in all formats.
March 4, 2010
Rickie Weeks went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI in today's 5-3 loss to the Giants in exhibition action. Both of his knocks were singles, and he also swiped a base.

Our View:This was an encouraging outing for Weeks, who made his first appearance since May wrist surgery. He is healthy again, and the second baseman could post quality numbers as long as he avoids the injury bug.
January 19, 2010
Rickie Weeks' one-year deal with the Brewers will pay him $2.75 million, according to ESPN. He made $2.45 million in 2009.

Our View:In 37 games before tearing a tendon in his left last season, he hit .272 with nine home runs and 24 RBI.
January 19, 2010
The Brewers and Rickie Weeks have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:No word yet on the monetary value. Weeks was off to a fine start last year, hitting .272 with nine home runs in 37 games before hurting his wrist and missing the rest of the season. He'll open 2010 as Milwaukee's starting second baseman.
October 7, 2009
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers fully expect Rickie Weeks to be the team's starting second baseman in 2010.

Our View:Weeks will be fully healthy at the start of next season after missing all but 37 games in 2009, but that is hardly a guarantee that he will stay healthy. He was off to the most productive start of his career before getting injured this year, but he remains a very risky player, both for the Brewers and in fantasy leagues. The talent is there but the injury risk is beyond great and he has some mental hurdles to overcome. Don't waste anything more than a late flyer on him in next year's draft.
