Player Notes
August 3, 2008
Daniel Cabrera walked only two batters on Sunday but he still permitted seven runs, six earned, over six innings against the Mariners. As a result, Cabrera fell to 7-7 on the season.

Our View:Cabrera has squandered all the love that he built with a strong start to the season by allowing six or more runs in three of his last four appearances. Even those in deep AL-only leagues are taking their chances starting the tall righty.
July 31, 2008
Orioles pitcher Daniel Cabrera was suspended six games and fined for throwing at Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez on Tuesday, according to the AP.

Our View:Cabrera has seven wins, but a terrible K/BB ratio (80/66), and should only be used in deep AL-only leagues.
July 29, 2008
Baltimore RHP Daniel Cabrera found his seventh win of the season against the Yankees tonight despite a strong effort to ruin the outing by relief pitching. Cabrera pitched seven innings, allowing three runs (all earned) on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View:Cabrera now sits at 7-6 on the season with a 4.81 ERA, evening out at 2-2 for July despite a worrisome 23 earned runs allowed through six starts.
July 24, 2008
Daniel Cabrera was torched by the Blue Jays on Thursday. In five innings he gave up 11 hits and seven earned runs. He recorded three strikeouts and two walks.

Our View:Cabrera is as inconsistent as they get and owners are better off without him. He has five or so great starts a year, but more often than not, he just allows too many baserunners to be effective.
July 13, 2008
Daniel Cabrera allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, walked six and struck out two and the Orioles lost their 48 game of the season to Boston 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Our View:Cabrera, like opposing pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, struggled with his command. None of the blame can go to the home plate umpire in the game Ted Barrett. The veteran umpire is known for his large strike zone.
