Player Notes
April 3, 2009
Ryan Shealy has been outrighted to Triple-A Omaha by the Royals, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He was hitting .262 with four homers in spring action, but did not have room for him on the roster. He hit .301 with seven homers over 73 at-bats last season, and it is a shame he will have to start the season in the minors.
March 29, 2009
Ryan Shealy cracked his fourth homer of the spring Sunday versus the Mariners in a 17-12 Royals' win.

Our View:With the likes of Mike Jacobs, Russ Gload, and Billy Butler all vying for some time at first, Shealy will probably end up manning the DH role for most of the season. Not helping Shealy's cause any is the fact he's never played in more than 56 games in any one season.
February 27, 2009
Ryan Shealy started at first base and hit 1-for-2 as the Royals beat the Giants 6-1 on Friday. He had a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored.

Our View:Shealy is in a crowded competition for first base in Kansas City. His shot at landing the job will have everything to do with his performance this spring, as well as the performances of Mike Jacob, Billy Butler, Ross Gload, and Kila Ka'Aihue
September 30, 2008
Ryan Shealy was named Kansas City's player of the month of September, according to the Royals Official Website. In 20 games on the month Shealy hit .301 with seven home runs and 20 RBI.

Our View:Shealy has long tantalized with his talent at the plate, but he has never been able to earn a full-time role at the major league level. At this point, it is pretty doubtful he ever will.
September 28, 2008
Ryan Shealy left Sunday's game due to apparent hamstring tightness, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He went 0-for-1 against Minnesota prior to leaving.
