Fernando Cabrera was recalled yesterday by the Indians to replace Arthur Rhodes, who is on the bereavement list, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Cabrera was just optioned to Triple-A Buffalo late in July.

Indians manager Eric Wedge suggested that Fernando Cabrera was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo yesterday because the club wanted to add a long reliever, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "We liked the way Fernando pitched," said Wedge, "but we needed some innings in the bullpen." Cabrera posted a 1.93 ERA over 9 1/3 innings before the demotion.

The Indians optioned Fernando Cabrera to Triple-A Buffalo Tuesday to create room on the roster for Brian Tallet, according to the AP. Cabrera posted a 1.93 ERA in 9 1/3 innings with Cleveland.

Fernando Cabrera threw three scoreless innings in his first appearance this season since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo. He struck out four and gave up two hits. "I was a little nervous," Cabrera said. "But I calmed down and was able to throw strikes. I'm very happy."

The Indians recalled Fernando Cabrera from Triple-A Buffalo, according to the AP. Cabrera was 6-0 with a 0.99 ERA and three saves in 27 relief appearances for the Bisons. He struck out 62 and allowed 33 hits and nine walks in 45 1/3 innings of work. Cabrera will likely be used in a setup role.
