Player Notes
December 18, 2009
Laynce Nix has signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds.

Our View:Not surprising after he hit 15 home runs in 116 major league games last season. Though his deal is a minor league one, expect him to spend a great deal of time in the majors for the ever-rebuilding Reds.
December 13, 2009
Laynce Nix is close to re-signing with the Reds, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:He was out-righted by the club last month, but apparently found nothing to his liking on the free agent market. in 116 games with the Reds last season, he hit 15 home runs while batting .239.
November 20, 2009
Laynce Nix has refused to be out-righted to Triple-A, and is now a free agent, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.

Our View:Nix showed some decent power for the Reds last season, clubbing 15 home runs in 309 at-bats. Despite a lifetime .236 average, he should find a place on someone's bench for 2010.
September 30, 2009
Laynce Nix hit a grand slam off of John Smoltz on Wednesday night, making life easy for Bronson Arroyo and the Reds, as they cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Cardinals.

Our View:Nix now has 15 home runs and 46 RBI in 114 games this season. Solid numbers, but maybe not enough to secure himself a spot in the Reds' 2010 outfield.
September 26, 2009
Laynce Nix only had one hit on Saturday, but it was a big one. His 14th homer put the Reds ahead in the second inning and they never looked back. He finished the day 1-for-2, with three RBI and two runs scored in the 10-4 drubbing of the Astros.

Our View:Nix's home run on Saturday is his only hit in 17 at-bats since returning from the DL on September 15th. Today's effort may have earned him some more playing time.
