According to the Associated Press, Luis Ayala was unharmed in a kidnapping attempt by armed gunmen in his home in Mexico on Tuesday.

Our View:Ayala was the intended target of the gunmen, who were parked in three cars outside of his home. They shot open the door, but were scared off before they could get to him as the soldiers responding to an emergency call were dispatched quickly. He was found handcuffed in his home, but neither he or his family were hurt.

The Dodgers are talking to Luis Ayala regarding a minor league deal, according to Dylan Hernandez's (Los Angeles Times) twitter page.

Our View:The 31-year-old reliever held a poor 5.62 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 40 innings in 2009, and would likely just serve as organizational depth if inked by Los Angeles.

Luis Ayala could be recalled by the Marlins, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View:The club needs a long-reliever, as Cristhian Martinez and Brian Sanches have each have more than two innings over the past two days. They are also considering Tim Wood as a fresh arm for the pen.

Marlins reliever Luis Ayala was optioned to Triple-A after the Marlins' 3-2 win over the Phillies Firday night.

Our View:Ayala was initially a candidate to close out game when Matt Lindstrom went on the DL, but he has struggled recently and now takes hi 1-4 record and 4.99 ERA to Triple-A.

The Palm Beach Post is reporting that Marlins' manager Fredi Gonzalez has said that he may use reliever Luis Ayala to close games while Matt Lindstrom is out. Ayala could be tossed in the mix with Leo Nunez and Dan Meyer to pitch the ninth inning.

Our View:Ayala has quite a bit more experience closing than Nunez, but it seems doubtful that one guy will get all of the save chances with Lindstrom out. If Ayala starts to pick up saves consistently he could be worth a look, but not until then.
