The Marlins told Hanley Ramirez he cannot participate in winter-ball in his native Dominican Republic, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:The team made the decision as they are already preparing for him to participate in the World Baseball Classic.

Hanley Ramirez won his first career Silver Slugger on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Ramirez is arguably the top offensive shortstop in the majors. He hits for more power than Mets counterpart Jose Reyes, with a similar average. Reyes does hold an edge in stolen bases, but Ramirez still gives fantasy owners significant production in that category.

Hanley Ramirez is not in Sunday's lineup, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:He reaggravated a left shoulder injury while diving for a ground ball on Saturday. He will only be available to run, but will be facing unfavorable field conditions as it continues to rain at Shea. Rookie Cameron Maybin will lead off and roam center field and Alfredo Amezaga will start at short.

Hanley Ramirez went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Mets. All three of his hits were singles. he also stole a pair of bases, giving him 35 for the season.

Our View:He raised his average from .298 to .302, and tied his season-high with 125 runs scored.

Hanley Ramirez hit his 33rd home run of the season off of Tim Redding on Wednesday night in the first at bat of the game. He finished the evening 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Our View:The 33 home runs is a career-high for Ramirez. He continues to solidify himself as an absolute fantasy stud from the leadoff position but he may get more RBI opportunities in 2009 if Cameron Maybin proves a legitimate leadoff option.
