Royce Ring has been designated for assignment by the Braves, according to MLB.com.

Our View:The left-handed specialist maintained a 8.46 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 22.1 innings of relief, and his designation holds no fantasy significance.

July 31, 2007
The Braves acquired Royce Ring from the Padres Tuesday in exchange for Wil Ledezma and Will Startup. Ring holds a 3.60 ERA in 15 games this year, and he'll work in middle relief for Atlanta.

July 24, 2007
The Padres optioned Royce Ring to Triple-A Portland on Monday, according to the AP. "As disappointed as he was to go down, I let him know that, hey, there's good opportunity, at some point you'll be back up," manager Bud Black said.

Our View:He'll get a chance to return to the majors soon enough.

The Padres recalled Royce Ring from Triple-A on Monday to help bolster a bullpen that worked 12 innings in Sunday's 17-inning loss to the Dodgers, according to the AP. Ring, who held a 2.13 ERA in 11 games with the Padres in 2006, posted a 1.32 ERA in 11 appearances with Portland prior to the promotion.
