Part of the reason Nick Swisher was dealt to the Yankees is because he was a bad influence in Chicago's clubhouse, according to the Chicago Tribune. Manager Ozzie Guillen said, "To be honest with you, I was not happy with the way he was reacting at the end of the season. He wasn't helping me either."

Our View:On a positive note, Swisher should benefit from a fresh start with the Yankees.
November 13, 2008
Outfielder Nick Swisher was traded from the Chicago White Sox with Kanekoa Texeira to the New York Yankees for minor league hurler Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez, along with first baseman Wilson Betemit according to FoxSports.com.

Our View:Swisher had a very poor year, as his batting average was just .219, though he did hit 24 home runs. The Yankees needed both an outfielder and first baseman, and Swisher can fill both roles when asked.
November 12, 2008
Chicago is reportedly increasing their effort to trade Nick Swisher, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:Swisher is signed through 2011 with Chicago but doesn't have no-trade rights. It is previously stated that the Sox would like to move Swisher to acquire more speed.
November 5, 2008
Nick Swisher is believed to be on Chicago's trading block, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:GM Kenny Williams would like to upgrade Chicago's speed, and is believed to be interested in Willy Taveras of Colorado. The Rockies are not interested in Swisher, but they would likely take a young pitcher in return, such as Lance Broadway.
October 3, 2008
MLB.com reports that Nick Swisher is starting in Game 2 of the ALDS with left-hander Scott Kazmir starting for Tampa Bay. He replaces Dewayne Wise in the outfield on Friday.

Our View:It's easy to see what manager Ozzie Guillen is thinking by sitting his lefties, but Swisher has been terrible from the right side of the plate this season as he just hit .197. Just six of his 24 home runs came as a right-handed hitter. Swisher has three hits in 21 career at-bats against Kazmir.
September 17, 2008
Manager Ozzie Guillen noted that Nick Swisher will see less playing time while working in an outfield platoon with Brian Anderson, Dewayne Wise, and speedster Jerry Owens, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:Swisher was covering at first base, but Paul Konerko has returned from his knee injury. He had been experimenting with different stances in the batting box, and the club cannot afford to wait for him to break out of his hitting slump while in a tight race with the Twins for the AL Central crown.
September 6, 2008
Nick Swisher is starting in left field in place of the injured Carlos Quentin today against the Angels, according to the Chicago Tribune. Ken Griffey Jr. is roaming center field with Jermaine Dye in right.

Our View:Swisher is going to see action in left field the rest of the way. He remains in a hitting slump as he only registered two hits over his last six games.
August 31, 2008
Nick Swisher went 0-for-4 for the White Sox, but the team still found a way to beat the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4-2.

Our View:Swisher has been an incredible disappointment from the start of the season on, and has hit under .225 every month of the season except one. Fantasy owners should not expect anything to change in September.
August 26, 2008
Nick Swisher left Tuesday's game against Baltimore at Camden Yards after fouling a pitch off of his left leg during a 4th-inning at-bat, according to MLB.com. Swisher was diagnosed with a lower left leg contusion and is listed as day-to-day.

Our View:Swisher contributed to an early 6-0 lead for the White Sox by launching a two-run home run in the first, his 22nd of the season. He hobbled back to the dugout after striking out in the fourth and was replaced by Brian Anderson in the bottom of the inning.
August 11, 2008
Nick Swisher was the lone White Sox batter to produce two hits on Monday night as he went 2-for-3 at the plate to raise his average to .234.

Our View:Swisher is just 12 for his last 57 (.211) and was in the eighth hole on this night. He has been a pretty big disappointment in Chicago after many assumed he would have a big year moving to a home park that so clearly favors the hitter. It just hasn't happened.
August 6, 2008
Nick Swisher didn't start the game on Tuesday night, but he ended it with a three-run homer in the bottom of the 14th inning. The White Sox beat the Tigers 10-8.

Our View:Swisher has seen his playing time reduced since the Ken Griffey trade, but he will still rotate into the lineup and get pinch-hit chances. He still has a spot in AL-only formats.
July 22, 2008
The White Sox sent the Rangers walking with a troubling 10-2 loss this evening, using the bat of outfielder Nick Swisher to get the job done. Swisher went 1-for-3 at the plate with one walk and his 14th homer of the season, totaling three RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View:Swisher has turned it one over recent days, hitting two homers over his last three games with six RBIs and four runs scored.
July 20, 2008
The White Sox suffered a disappointing series-closing loss versus the Kansas City Royals today, losing 8-7 despite working from behind to overtake two leads during the game, an effort led by outfielder Nick Swisher that fell just short. Swisher went 2-for-4 at the plate with one walk and his 13th homer of the season, touting three RBIs and two runs scored through the struggle.

Our View:After hitting .315 with seven homers and 23 RBIs last month, Swisher is hitting just .213 with one homer and five RBIs through July.
July 4, 2008
Nick Swisher will move from first base to center field when Paul Konerko comes back from the disabled list, according to the Chicago Tribune. "But what decision we're going to make, my center fielder obviously has to be Swisher," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View:For what it's worth, Swisher's numbers have been better while playing center field. In 143 at-bats as a center fielder, he has hit .259 with 7 home runs and 17 RBI. In 91 at-bats as a first baseman, he has hit .242 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI.
June 30, 2008
Nick Swisher, who had a bases-loaded homer against the Cubs on Friday, connected from the right side against lefty Jeremy Sowers to start a five-run third inning in Monday night's rout of Cleveland. Swisher went deep from the left side against Tom Mastny, the seventh time in Swisher's career he's homered from both sides of the plate. It was the second this season.

Our View:It was the major league-leading eighth grand slam given up by Cleveland's pitching staff this season. Swisher's two home runs raised his total to 11 for the season.
June 27, 2008
Nick Swisher went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 10-3 win over the Cubs. His other hit went for a double, giving him six total bases in the game.

Our View:That was his first homer since June 9, when he hit a pair against the Twins.
June 20, 2008
Nick Swisher went 2-for-3 on Friday to extend his modest hitting streak to five games during which time his average has gone from .218 to .236.

Our View:So far Swisher has been a tremendous disappointment, but it appears that he has finally rediscovered his swing as he is hitting .339 over his last 62 AB. Hopefully you had the patience to wait for the turnaround.
June 10, 2008
Nick Swisher was moved to seventh in the batting order on June 1st. In the eight games since he has hit .387 with four HR and accumulated 10 RBI. He belted two home runs and drew two walks in a 7-5 victory last night over the Twins.

Our View:Fantasy owners are hoping that the new position in the batting order is precisely what Swisher needs to break out of his early season slump. The move has been beneficial for the White Sox in the win column, as well. They are 7-1 since the switch.
June 8, 2008
The White Sox put the 12-2 win on the board versus the Minnesota Twins today, a strong effort pushed by outfielder Nick Swisher . Swisher went 2-for-4 with his eighth double and sixth homer of the season, posting four total RBIs and two runs scored on the day.

Our View:Swisher has posted at least on hit in his last seven games, going 10-for-29 through that stretch with two home runs and seven RBIs.
June 1, 2008
Nick Swisher was dropped to ninth in the batting order on Saturday. The struggling slugger also shaved the hair off both sides of his bead. "I don't know what else to do," Swisher informs the Chicago Tribune. He went 0-for-2 and saw his average dip to .201.

Our View:Swisher is just one of many struggling Sox batters. If Jerry Owens were hitting better at Triple-A, the speedster might be digging into Swisher's playing time. As it is, Ozzie Guillen can only drop Nick in the order and hope the slugger can turn it around.
May 16, 2008
Nick Swisher is penciled in to bat seventh in the White Sox lineup tonight, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:Swisher holds a .211 batting average over 40 games, with four homers and 10 RBI, but still managed to score 23 runs, due to a .339 on-base percentage.
May 8, 2008
Nick Swisher went 0-for-4 on Thursday to drop his average to .200 on the season thanks to a 10-for-70 stretch.

Our View:One word for you - ugly. Swisher has never been a big average hitter, his career mark is .248, but the depths we are seeing here are shocking. However, he is getting on base at almost a .350 clip, so he has still been able to produce in the runs scored category (23).
May 8, 2008
Nick Swisher is hitting sixth in the White Sox order today, according to the Star Tribune. He dropped down in the order, and Alexei Ramirez is batting leadoff.

Our View:While Swisher was solid as a leadoff man, but the team slipped to 15-17 and could use more firepower in the middle of their order. He may not score as many runs from the sixth spot, but he could swing for the fences more often, meaning his home run totals could improve. He only has three homers over 128 at-bats so far.
May 5, 2008
After struggling with a .210 average the White Sox have moved Nick Swisher to sixth in the batting order. Orlando Cabrera will hit at the top of the order for the struggling White Sox offense.

Our View:His 23 walks and .354 on base percentage are favorable for a leadoff hitter, but the team needs more punch in the middle of the order. Swisher could provide that spark and improve his HR/AB ratio.
May 5, 2008
Nick Swisher certainly hasn't helped the White Sox during their recent offensive slumber. The leadoff heater is batting .210 with a .675 OPS through the first month and week of the season.

Our View:His 23 walks and .354 on base percentage are favorable, but the rest of the numbers are inferior to what was projected for the Oakland import. His HR/AB this season is 35.0, which is down from his 24.5 when in Oakland. The hitter friendly confines of Chicago have yet to pay dividends for those who believed Swisher would have the best offensive season of his career. However, there is plenty of time for Swish to pick up his pace.
April 29, 2008
Nick Swisher only has five hits over his last 36 at-bats (.139), according to MLB.com. He is only 19-for-86 (.221) overall for the season, with 19 strikeouts.

Our View:Swisher walked 21 times though, and scored 18 runs over 25 games. His fantasy stock will climb back up, as soon as his average does. See if you can lure him away for cheap right now during his slump.
April 26, 2008
Nick Swisher went 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Our View:There will be plenty more home runs for Swisher. Hitting in the leadoff spots hurts his RBI chances, but Swisher benefits with more plate appearances than he would see in the middle of the order.
April 20, 2008
Nick Swisher is starting at first base for Chicago today, according to The Chicago Tribune. He is moving over from center field in place of Paul Konerko, who was given the day off.

Our View:Swisher is faring well as the leadoff man, and notably has forced 15 walks over 17 games so far, with 14 runs scored.
April 15, 2008
Nick Swisher will play first base today and bat leadoff for Chicago, according to The Chicago Tribune. Paul Konerko will handle the DH role while Jim Thome sits out. Alexei Ramirez will man center field.

Our View:Swisher is hitting 11-for-38 with three extra base hits and 12 walks so far (with 11 runs scored), and is working out very well as the leadoff man right now.
April 12, 2008
Contrary to a Friday report on MLB.com , Nick Swisher is at the top of the lineup and playing center field against the Tigers today.

Our View:Swisher, who is expected to excel with his move from Oakland to Chicago, is hitting .259 with two home runs and four RBI in nine games so far this season.
April 11, 2008
Nick Swisher will be sidelined for at least the next two days as the team hopes the time off will allow him to heal the sore right hip flexor that has plagued him, this according to MLB.com. This doesn't appear to be a serious issue, at least that's what the club hopes as they are being proactive here. Carlos Quentin will move up into the leadoff spot in place of Swisher.
April 8, 2008
Nick Swisher will remain Chicago's leadoff hitter for the foreseeable future, according to the Chicago Tribune. He is hitting 6-for-23 with an eye opening nine walks so far, and Manager Guillen stated, "You have a leadoff hitter who can run, that's a plus. But to be a leadoff hitter, you've got to get on base. You can't steal first. I'd rather be a guy who gets on base, and all of a sudden he gets on base six times in a row by walks." Swisher should score a lot of runs in the potent White Sox offense with Orlando Cabrera, Jim Thome, and Paul Konerko hitting behind him.
April 6, 2008
Nick Swisher hit is first home run of the season on Sunday as the White Sox handed the Tigers their sixth straight loss. The solo-shot gave Swisher his first RBI of the season as well. Swisher later singled with the bases loaded to record his second run batted in, and he scored twice in the win.
April 3, 2008
Nick Swisher is going to bat lead-off for the White Sox today, according to the Chicago Tribune. Orlando Cabrera is going to move down to the number two spot. Swisher collected two hits and two runs over the first two games of the season against Cleveland.
March 31, 2008
Nick Swisher recorded two hits and scored twice in his White Sox debut. Swisher will hit leadoff for the Sox while Jerry Owens recovers from an injury that's landed him on the disabled list.
March 27, 2008
Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen announced on Wednesday afternoon that Nick Swisher will bat leadoff and play center field most of the time while Jerry Owens recovers from a small tear of the right adductor muscle, notes the Chicago Tribune. This is somewhat of a surprise, and owners that expected to have Swisher in the meat of the order could see him return to that role when Owens is scheduled to return from the disabled list, April 9th.
February 29, 2008
If Jerry Owens ends up out of the lineup, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he's seriously considering batting Nick Swisher in the leadoff spot over Orlando Cabrera, according to the Chicago Tribune. "If we're going to think about Orlando and Swisher hitting leadoff, I'd rather have Swisher because Orlando handles the bat a lot better than he does," Guillen said. Owens is going to have to earn his playing time and currently is sidelined by a sore groin, so things could change at the top of the lineup early this season.
January 4, 2008
How the rest of the White Sox's roster shapes up will determine exactly what position Nick Swisher will spend most of his time at next season, but GM Kenny Williams has told the slugger he'll likely spend the bulk of his time in center field, according to the Chicago Tribune. Assuming that happens, Carlos Quentin and Jerry Owens will likely compete for time in left. Although there are other questions that still need to be answered, as well. Such as what the team plans to do with Alexei Ramirez and where Josh Fields will play if Joe Crede isn't dealt.
January 3, 2008
The White Sox acquired Nick Swisher from the A's on Thursday in exchange for Gio Gonzalez, Ryan Sweeney and Fautino De Los Santos, according to the AP. Swisher will likely handle center field for the Pale Hose, meaning Jerry Owens would be relegated to a backup role.
