Joe Saunders was recalled from Triple-A Saturday, in preparation for his Sunday turn against the Twins. He's expected to keep a regular spot in the Angels rotation going forward.

Joe Saunders is expected to rejoin the Angels in time to start Sunday's game against Minnesota, and he's expected to be back in the rotation going forward, taking the spot of Ervin Santana, the AP reports. Saunders has been effective in five starts with the Angels this year (three wins, 2.97 ERA), though his other numbers aren't as impressive (1.42 ratio, 12 walks, 14 strikeouts over 30 1/3 innings).

Joe Saunders was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake after his spot start Friday, but he has remained with the Angels in case they need him to fill in for Jered Weaver on Wednesday. Weaver missed his last start because of a bruised shoulder but could be scratched from tomorrow's outing due to possible strep throat, according to the LA Times.

The Angels will recall Joe Saunders from Triple-A Salt Lake to start on Saturday in place of the injured Bartolo Colon, according to the LA Times. Saunders held a 1.96 ERA in three starts with the Angels earlier this year. He hasn't pitched as well for Salt Lake, posting a 5.06 ERA in seven outings.

While many players lose weight during the offseason, Joe Saunders actually gained 15 pounds in the hope that it will keep him from battling the fatigue problems he had late last season, according to the LA Times. "I lost some pounds during the season, and that may have contributed to my lack of endurance," said Saunders. "I really worked on my legs and my core. I've been eating good and working out, and hopefully that will help me."
