Our View:While the line looks poor, three runs scored on a catchable ball that dropped between Howie Kendrick and Torii Hunter in an embarrassing display of defense. Saunders deserved better than he got on this night.

Our View:Saunders already has 16 victories to go along with a 3.52 ERA, and one more tune up before the playoffs seems apropos for Saunders and the Angels.

September 18, 2008
On Thursday, Joe Saunders won his 16th game of the year against the Athletics, 6-4. Saunders went seven shutout innings while giving up six hits.

Our View:Saunders looks like he is over a tough stretch he had over the last two months. Today's win was only his second since late July. Thursday's start was what fantasy owners had gotten used to from Saunders in 2008.

Our View:Saunders' wife is going into labor, and thus if the baby is not born by the end of the game on Saturday, he is likely to remain home with his wife. If Saunders can't go, the Angels will call up a Minor League pitcher for a spot start. Starter Jered Weaver would be available in relief, but Scioscia said any replacement starter "would be somebody from down under."
July 8, 2008
Joe Saunders is expected to make his start tonight at Texas, according to the OC Register. His pregnant wife is due for delivery, but Saunders said everything is still on hold. The baby can be born any day now, and Saunders said, "If it comes, I'm out of here."

Joe Saunders just keeps on winning. The lefty allowed only two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three over seven innings Saturday to run his record to 11-3.

Our View:Saunders continues to defy the odds with such a low strikeout rate. He'll get pounded at times, but it's clear at this point that you should start him every time out.
June 3, 2008

Our View:Saunders is 8-2 this season with a strong 2.76 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, and should remain penciled into your roto-rotation. He is coming off his worst start of the season when he was lit up for five runs over five innings against the Tigers on May 28, but he allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his previous four outings, and should bounce back fine.
May 28, 2008

May 23, 2008
Joe Saunders had his Thursday start pushed back a day because of the flu, but it was hard to tell Friday that he had been under the weather. The southpaw allowed just one run on three hits and three walks while striking out four over 8 1/3 innings in a 3-1 win over the White Sox. Saunders improved to 8-1 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.31.

Our View:It's hard to believe Saunders' 29/19 K/BB rate over 70 innings won't eventually catch up with him, but you can't argue with his results thus far.
May 23, 2008
Joe Saunders sounds ready to start on Friday against the White Sox. He was scratched on Wednesday due to fatigue and cold symptoms, but he felt better on Thursday, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Manager Mike Scioscia said he is prepared to start Ervin Santana Thursday on his normal four days' rest and hold Saunders back for a start this weekend in Chicago.

Our View:The O''s obviously didn't take advantage of all their chances, but Saunders deserves some of the credit. He has arguably been the most surprising fantasy contributor this year.
May 4, 2008
Joe Saunders will be looking to remain unbeaten when the Angels host the Orioles tonight, according to MLB.com. Saunders is 5-0 with a 2.08 ERA and excellent 0.95 WHIP this season, and was 2-0 against Baltimore with a 4.91 ERA in 2007.

Our View:Saunders only has 20 strikeouts over 43.1 innings, but he is strong in the other important categories, and should remain in your lineups if you were lucky enough to land him.
April 29, 2008
Joe Saunders continues to roll along for the Halos. The left-hander tossed eight shutout innings Tuesday, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five to pick up his fifth win of the year.

April 24, 2008
Joe Saunders improved to 4-0 thanks to holding the Red Sox to three runs in six innings on Thursday. On the afternoon, Saunders allowed seven hits, three walks and struck out three.

Our View:Saunders has been great to start the year, especially that 2.55 ERA and 1.02 ERA, and he has more than justified the team's faith in him when, well, they honestly didn't have any better options with Kelvim Escobar and John Lackey out injured.
April 10, 2008
Joe Saunders is performing very well so far and is notably the first Angels' starter to pitch at least eight innings in each of his first two starts of a season since Jack Lazorko in 1987, according to the LA Times. Saunders is 1-0 with a 0.56 ERA over 16 innings (with nine strikeouts), and his fantasy stock should continue to rise.

March 13, 2008
