Zack Greinke isn't in a rush to ink a long-term deal with the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star. "I'm comfortable with my pitching ability," he said, "to (the point) where I feel like I'm going to pitch (well) for a while. I don't need to get a long-term deal because I feel I'll be able to pitch (well) and earn a long-term deal when I become a free agent."

Our View:Greinke had a superb 2008 season and is a fine fantasy option even on a bad Royals squad.
September 30, 2008
Zack Greinke went 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in five starts in September to be named the club's pitcher of the month, according to the Royals Official Website.

Our View:Greinke was marvelous this season and finished on quite a role with a 2.32 ERA over his final 10 starts. He will be a top target next season, and well he should be after his solid 2008 campaign (13 wins, 183 K, 3.47 ERA).
September 24, 2008
The Kansas City Star reports that Zack Greinke will not start on Sunday as the Royals will shut him down for the season after shouldering his career-high workload. "He’s already at 80-plus innings over what he had last year," Hillman said. "That’s a lot. A good measuring tool for a young pitcher is (an increase of) 25 to 50."

Our View:Greinke improved to 13-10 by pitching seven scoreless innings Tuesday in a 5-0 victory over Detroit. It was his 23rd quality start in 32 outings and pushed his innings total to 202 1/3.
September 23, 2008
Zack Greinke shut out the Tigers for seven innings and gave up just four hits in the Royals 5-0 win.

Our View:Greinke earned his 13th victory of the season, and saw his ERA drop to 3.47. He has been an excellent option for fantasy owners all season, and figures to be so again next year.
September 18, 2008
Zack Greinke went seven scoreless innings while only allowing two hits in the Royals' 12-0 win over the Mariners on Thursday night.

Our View:Greinke won his 12th game of the year on Thursday night and he has given up three or fewer earned runs in his last seven starts.
