Player Notes
June 30, 2008
Zack Greinke will be looking for his first career win against the Orioles when he takes the mound tonight at Camden Yards, according to MLB.com. Greinke is 0-2 over four career outings against Baltimore, with a 10.64 ERA.

Our View:Greinke is 7-4 this season with a 3.40 ERA and solid 1.25 WHIP. He has a two-game winning streak, and has only allowed four total earned runs over his last three starts. He has a poor track record against Baltimore, but should remain active in your lineups while he is pitching well.

Royals' ace Zack Greinke is the target of the Phillies and the Brewer according to Fox Sports. The note reports, and accurately, that the Royals are not interested in moving Grienke whom they control through 2010.

Our View:General Manager Dayton Moore values pitching above all and Greinke isn't going anywhere unless somebody overwhelms the Royals front office.

The Royals found success against the Rockies in interleague play this evening, putting the 7-3 win on the board with a strong outing from RHP Zack Greinke to support the cause. Greinke pitched six strong innings, allowing three runs (all earned) on nine hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

Our View:The win brings Greinke to a record of 7-4 on the season with an ERA of 3.40. He has surrendered more walks this month, but he continues to work late into games and gives the Royals a reasonable opportunity to win.

Zack Greinke, Ramon Ramirez and Joakim Soria combined on a two-hitter, and the Kansas City Royals completed their first three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals since 2001 with a 4-1 victory Thursday. Greinke allowed one run on two hits, walked one and struck out seven in seven innings of work.

Our View:Greinke was outstanding, and after a rough three-game patch that saw him walk seven in his last start in Arizona, the Royals ace proved again that he is one of the best pitchers in the American League. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.33 with the performance.

Zack Greinke was a big wild in Friday night's 1-0 loss to the Diamondbacks. The right-hander allowed no runs on three hits, but walked seven batters and struck out five.

Our View:Greinke's arm and ability are at times, astounding. On more than one occasion he baffled the Arizona hitters with a low 70s breaking ball and then a 96 mph fastball that allowed him to strand runners for the first seven innings of the scoreless game.
